Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects.
  • Coordination of major projects through design completion, demonstrating creativity, foresight, and technical judgment.
  • Assure that engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control scheduling, cost engineering/control, quality control, and project objectives.
  • Interact with clients, and participate in technical project design meetings.
  • Provide leadership to the design team for various tasks within the scope of a project, including training and supervising junior staff.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines, including structures, hydraulics/drainage, stormwater, traffic, electrical, utilities, right of way, and environmental.
  • Prepare highway designs, including planning documents and PS&E
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines.
  • Manage and mentor younger staff.
  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule and within budget.
  • Assume some project management duties and interact with clients as needed.
  • Perform quality assurance checks for projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited program
  • Registered Civil Engineer (P.E.)
  • Experience on projects with Caltrans and/or FHWA oversight
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, includingMicrosoftOffice and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience should include urban and rural highways, intersection design, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans
  • Knowledge and understanding of Caltrans Highway Design Manual and Standards, AASHTO Highway Design Guide, California MUTCD, Greenbook / APWA standards, and other related standards
