As the Accounting Manager/Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for a range of accounting, finance, and reporting related activities. These will include but are not limited to: procure to pay, monthly close, clinical trial and contract manufacturing accounting, financial reporting, audit preparation, SOX compliance responsibilities, payroll, employee benefits and reimbursements, and special projects.

As the Accounting Manager/Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for a range of accounting, finance, and reporting related activities. These will include but are not limited to: procure to pay, monthly close, clinical trial and contract manufacturing accounting, financial reporting, audit preparation, SOX compliance responsibilities, payroll, employee benefits and reimbursements, and special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including the preparation and review of supporting schedules and related analysis to ensure the accurate compilation and reporting of financial data in accordance with US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting (emphasis on clinical and contract manufacturing accounting)
- Oversee the procure-to-pay process, including resolving various procurement and vendor related requests
- Oversee the corporate and out-of-pocket expense reports to ensure compliance with current corporate policies
- Drive new accounting/finance software implementations by working cross-functionally with other departments and key stakeholders
- Partner with internal project managers and external service providers to determine appropriate accruals and expense recognition for R&D and Clinical projects, including participation in monthly meetings with external Contract Research Organizations (CRO), Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO), and internal project management to provide project status updates and obtain validation of percentage and units completed
- Expertise in interpreting and applying financial policies and procedures including the use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and methodologies, including accrual accounting, revenue recognition, amortization, etc.
- Expertise in performing financial functions including preparation and posting of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis, financial report preparation and variance analysis
- Responsible for the deliverables of the audit package to external auditors, including annual financial statement audits and quarterly reviews
- Maintain internal accounting policies and procedures in preparation for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, take ownership of process improvements, document business processes and assess current processes for efficiency
- Ability to independently research, interpret, analyze, compile, and present data and information
- Other responsibilities / ad-hoc requests as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business required
- CPA designation is strongly preferred
- 6+ years of experience in a blend of private and public company financial accounting required
- Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
- Life Science industry experience with strong clinical and drug manufacturing accounting knowledge preferred
- NetSuite / Coupa experience preferred
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office 365 skills required
