Overview:
Our client is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer who is responsible for the maintenance and support of moderately complex systems software and hardware computer systems at multiple client sites.

Description:
The IT Systems Engineer will actively monitor and respond to technical hardware and software problems utilizing hardware and software testing tools and techniques as well as assist in managing overall system capacity. He/she may interface with vendor support service groups or other external support teams to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

The IT Systems Engineer will also be expected to contribute to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of custom system software, and/or the installation and maintenance of purchased systems software, plus the configuration and support of hardware systems across the client sites; produce and maintain documentation such as systems requirements, designs, resource inventories and plans as requested by the work unit leadership.

Work will be reviewed for quality, timeliness, and adequacy at predetermined milestones.

Develops and maintains effective relationships with the I.T. technical staff and management across all client sites in the support of multiple projects simultaneously.

May be asked to perform consulting tasks or act as an information resource and/or mentor both internally and externally to the work unit.

Consistently demonstrates the ability to take responsibility and accountability for managing work with little or no direct supervision.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize issues appropriately.

Must have demonstrated the ability to interact effectively with a variety of personnel at multiple sites.

Candidates must demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills using English.

Occasional weekends and evening coverage will be required. Participation in 24 x 7 on-call rotation also required. Must be able to see and hear within normally acceptable standards.

Skills:
  • Experience working in healthcare technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field; Master's degree in a relevant technical discipline helpful.
  • MCSE, CCNA, or other IT related certifications.
  • Qualified candidates should have demonstrated experience in managing operating systems, including configuration, internals, and maintenance processes.
  • Qualified candidates should have knowledge of system design principles, software development methodologies, project management methodologies, and some computer programming and/or system support experience.
  • Experience managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications helpful.
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple operating systems, including configuration, internals, and maintenance processes.
  • A working knowledge of the following is preferred: Client/Server application architecture, Clustering, VB and scripting tools; MS SQL Server, Oracle, My SQL, DB2 or Sybase; Web Architecture including HTML, JavaScript, Active Server Pages (ASP), PHP; Network topologies and protocols e.g. IEEE 802.3, 802.11a/b/g, 802.1x, TCP/IP; SAN, NAS, virtualized storage environments.
  • Experience in system hardware design, ordering, configuration, testing and implementation of large projects.

Requirements:
  • Engineering Skills:
    • Zscaler Platform Knowledge: (required)
      • Deep understanding of Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), and Zscaler Client Connector.
      • Familiarity with Zscaler's cloud architecture and security services.
    • Networking:
      • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, etc.).
      • Experience with VPNs, MPLS, SD-WAN, and other network technologies.
      • Understanding of network architecture and design principles.
    • Security:
      • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
      • Experience with firewall, IDS/IPS, DLP, and other security technologies.
    • Cloud Computing:
      • Familiarity with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
      • Understanding of cloud security concepts and services.
    • Operating Systems:
      • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting Windows, Linux, and macOS systems.
    • Scripting and Automation:
      • Skills in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and integration tasks.
    • Identity and Access Management:
      • Experience with identity providers (IDPs) and single sign-on (SSO) technologies.
      • Knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, etc).
    • Web Technologies:
      • Understanding of web traffic inspection and filtering.
      • Knowledge of SSL/TLS encryption and decryption.
    • Endpoint Security:
      • Experience with endpoint protection platforms (EPP) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.
    • Logging and Monitoring:
      • Familiarity with logging tools and SIEM solutions (Google Chronicle).
      • Understanding of log analysis and monitoring practices.
    • API Integration:
      • Skills in working with RESTful APIs for integration with third-party systems.
      • Understanding of API security and management.
      • Troubleshooting and Support.
      • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
      • Experience in technical support and troubleshooting complex issues.
    • Certifications: (preferred)
      • Relevant certifications (e.g., Zscaler Certified Cloud Professional, Zscaler Internet Access Administrator, CISSP, CCNA, etc.) are a plus.

Preferred Skills:
  • Agile experience
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, i.e. Kanban boards and/or Sprint.
  • Experience working within a hospital setting that has 24x7 patient care.
  • Experience communicating status updates with exec leadership and project teams
  • Experience with working with users on reported issues.
  • Strong Customer Service Skills and ability communicate professionally.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues and incidents in a timely and professional manner.


Education:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of demonstrated technical experience or an Associate degree plus 5 years of demonstrated technical experience. A high school diploma and 7 years of demonstrated IT technical experience focused on managing operating systems, including configuration, internals, and maintenance processes in a large, complex organization may be considered in lieu of the degree.
