SUMMARY

This is a Full-time position. Staff dentist is responsible for the provision of direct dental services in accordance with the protocols, policies and procedures of UMMA Community Clinic. The Staff dentist needs to ensure that patients receive quality, timely, professional services in alignment with UMMA's mission and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide direct primary care services to dental patients within the scope of general dentistry designated by UMMA
  • Provide quality and timely dental services to patients at UMMA
  • Collaborate with the medical and behavioral health team to provide patient-centered inter-professional collaborative care
  • Follow clinic protocols established by UMMA
  • Follow quality improvement procedures approved by the Quality Improvement Committee including but not limited to chart and peer reviews
  • Educates individuals on the nature of oral health related conditions and the general promotion of oral health related disease prevention.
  • Through teamwork and accountability resolve patient complaints and concerns.
  • Exhibit behavior and attitudes of courtesy, respect and professionalism to patients and members of the health care team
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CDO
  • Be compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and clinic rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality.
  • Saturday Work Schedule

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Supervise externship students from affiliated institutions such as dental schools, dental hygiene schools, and dental assistant schools

ENVIRONMENT

The environment for this position is medical clinic that is clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will. In addition, the incumbent may travel via personal vehicle or public transportation throughout the community.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:
  • DMD or DDS degree from an accredited dental school
  • Ideal candidate would have about 2 years of experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a dentist in an outpatient setting. Experience in a community health center setting is preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Dental Records and digital radiograph
  • Saturday Work Schedule as needed
  • Spanish speaker preferred


Certificates, Licensure, and Regulatory Requirements
  • Current California dental license with no restrictions
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate (DEA) License
  • A valid California driver's license and a good driving record
  • Current BLS/ALCS
  • H1B sponsorship
  • Successful completion and acceptable results of post offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background check.
  • Recommended Healthcare Personnel Requirements for vaccinations and preventative testing: Hep B, Influenza, MMR, TDAP, TB, Covid-19 and boosters
