Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB : The Process Improvement Specialist helps drive and performance improvement by working with subject matter experts with a focus on process improvement and the reliable delivery of evidence-based care. This position serves as an internal expert on the Model for Improvement methodology, use of improvement tools, data management, data analysis and display.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Guides multidisciplinary teams through disciplined approach to achieve desired improvement results, including identification of process and outcomes measures, establishment of data collection tools and strategies, collection of baseline data, and Pareto and other analyses to establish areas of improvement focus. (20%)
  • Performs chart reviews when appropriate to measure adherence to evidence-based standards of care and to identify root causes of noncompliance. (20%)
  • Facilitates the construction of high level and detailed process maps and cause and effect diagrams to help identify process variation and potential failure modes. (20%)
  • Creates reports, analyses to measure processes and outcomes to support project goals. Acts as data consultant to project teams to ensure quality data collection to measure key indicators. (15%)
  • Analyzes and tracks performance of the health system on pay for performance contracts and external value based measures to identify areas of improvement. Predicts future trends relative to performance metrics, where possible and reports results to leadership. (15%)
  • Actively participates in regional/national quality improvement organizations (QIO) when appropriate, such as Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). (10%)
Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Education:
  • Master's degree in a health care related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Certification in process improvement techniques preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years experience in performance improvement, education or analysis
  • Other Skills:
  • Experience in use of the Model for Improvement or Six-Sigma tools methods.
  • Experience working with all levels of staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to facilitate multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proficient in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistics and use of analytic tools a plus.
