Compensation:

Salary: $145,000.00 to $159,000.00 annually

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

In 2020, Governor Kelly established the Office of Broadband Development. This high-profile position reports to the agency's Chief of Staff and has responsibilities that include:
  • Ensuring broadband programs are efficiently and effectively implemented and managed to deliver high impact across the state
  • Develop strategies to pursue funding opportunities outside of state government
  • Develop long-term strategies that advance the Office of Broadband Development. Among other responsibilities, the Director will lead all state broadband initiatives with engagement from internal and external stakeholders, including administration leadership, legislators and other interested parties.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Identify innovative strategies to address increased adoption, digital literacy, economic development and robust infrastructure, especially through relationships in the private and nonprofit sectors.
  • Provide stakeholder management and outreach to service providers, legislators, state agencies and other invested stakeholders
  • Serve as primary spokesperson to local, regional and statewide media regarding the state's broadband programs.
  • Provide guidance and solutions for the evolving broadband landscape.
  • Work with the administration and agency leadership to develop legislative proposals related to broadband. Provide testimony to the legislature on broadband initiatives.
  • Assess current programs and challenges in the industry and make recommendations for program improvements and development of new opportunities.
  • Support local and regional stakeholders by providing consultation on local broadband strategies and initiatives.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a field of study related to the work duties (computer science, business administration, communications, etc.)
  • 5-7 years of professional experience, a portion of which include leading a large technology or telecommunications organization or leading a community relations and economic development organization.
  • Five or more years of executive experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise wide programs, operating and influencing effectively across the organization.
  • Proven success in communicating opportunities and challenges to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Can demonstrate a collaborative approach to leadership and ability to influence and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful broadband implementation
Substitutions:

Additional relevant education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Experience that demonstrates strong leadership skills with expertise in broadband deployment, industry issues, and technology
  • Post-graduate degree from an accredited university in technology, public affairs, or another relevant field
