Position Description

Harvard Federal Credit Union (Harvard FCU) has a dynamic small-business atmosphere where every member of the team has a significant impact on our success. Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the AVP for Branch Administration, the Branch Manager manages the operations, sales and service provided at the Harvard FCU branches, and serves as the primary contact for the Harvard/MGH/Partners HealthCare community. The Branch Manager supervises branch staff, providing leadership and coaching, encouraging high-quality service, efficient operations and effective sales of Harvard Federal Credit Union products and services.

Duties:
  • Oversees and monitors all branch operations, including timely and accurate daily balancing, security, and monthly audit procedures (money orders, instant issue debit card stock, branch and teller cash, and ATMs).
  • Actively seeks opportunities to increase Harvard FCU's visibility, develop memberships and new business in deposits, consumer loans and residential mortgages within the Harvard/MGH/Partners organizations. Develops and maintains strong business relationships with key affiliate personnel and performs scheduled on-site visits to these organizations. Supports Community Outreach Specialist with planning, participation, and coordination of benefit fairs, seminars and other related member educational programs and activities.
  • Supervises, trains and evaluates staff to increase their productivity and effectiveness, and deliver efficient, consistent and courteous service excellence. Maintains positive staff morale and a harmonious working environment.
  • Promotes sales and actively sells Harvard FCU products and services, and supports and encourages branch staff to do the same with training and motivation. In line with Credit Union goals and objectives, develops, communicates and achieves branch and individual sales plans to increase the member base and develop multiple member relationships. Demonstrates effective account retention efforts.
  • Holds consumer loan signing authority and acts within established approval guidelines. Emphasizes timely loan processing and closing, and provides staff with expertise regarding underwriting to maintain loan quality.
  • Suggests methods for improving branch operations efficiency. Measures and evaluates branch performance. Recommends changes in facilities, staffing levels, hours, etc. to better meet member needs and to improve productivity. Detects problem areas, and recommends solutions.
  • Acts as a primary resource, providing direction and expertise to staff and Harvard FCU members. Resolves escalated member inquiries or issues.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as Harvard FCU's internal policies and procedures.
  • Participates in hiring, career development, evaluation and termination of employees. Ensures branch has adequate staffing. Ensures training and development for staff. Promotes and supports goal setting for performance evaluation.
  • Participates in Retail Services planning and projects, as well as the product development process and writing of policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the physical appearance of the branch, taking necessary action to ensure that required standards are maintained.
  • Collaborates with other Harvard FCU managers on staffing, planning, strategic and operational issues that impact all retail staff.
  • May need to travel at late notice to provide coverage at any branch, depending on the needs of the business.
  • Performs other job-related duties and assignments as required or directed.

Work Format Details

This position is based on site in Boston, Massachusetts. Position may require travel to all branch locations in the Cambridge, Boston and Somerville areas. This may include during emergency situations (if applicable). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

Interviews for this position may be conducted via telephone and Zoom video conferencing, based on the department's current presence on campus.
