The EH&S Engineer will report to the EHS Manager. This position will help Aspen Aerogels minimize the risk of job-related accidents. The EHS Engineer will monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities, will be well-versed in all OSHA regulations, and will focus on prevention so needs to be diligent and analytical. A keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers is required to support a healthy and safe workplace.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks.
  • Enforce OSHA and Company policies (e.g. incident reporting process).
  • Direct accident investigation procedures.
  • Record safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions as required.
  • Conduct safety training.
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
  • Liaise with official regulators as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical/Professional Knowledge & Skills Competency
  • Essential - bachelor's degree, preferably in occupational health and safety, engineering, Industrial Hygiene or similar, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Essential - 2+ years of EHS experience, preferably in a chemical or manufacturing setting.
  • Essential - Experience in leading OSHA compliant safety trainings.
  • Essential - Significant experience in building and maintaining positive relationships internally and externally to the organization.
  • Essential - Working knowledge of the applicable international, national & local standards and legislation is required.
