SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Medical Lab Scientist II - Blood Bank is a crucial position responsible for providing support to the blood bank supervisor in overseeing the operations of the blood bank department within a healthcare facility. The incumbent will play a key role for ensuring the accurate and timely testing, processing, and distribution of blood products to meet the needs of patients and support medical staff. This is a lead position responsible for technical oversight for a team of medical laboratory scientists and technicians, ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Must be Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technologist certified through ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification agency.
  • If certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or a Medical Technologist, an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution may be substituted for a Bachelors.
  • Two years clinical laboratory experience in related discipline required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of blood bank testing procedures, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory guidelines and quality control standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
