Overview
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Director for its Advocacy and Strategic Alliance team. The individual will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholder organizations, including the patient advocacy community. In addition, the Director will lead on internal policy areas focused on access, coverage, and reimbursement policies, among other issues.

Excellent relationship-building and communication skills are a must and include the ability to inspire confidence and influence audiences through effective presentation, testimony, and group facilitation. The candidate must have the ability to handle multiple complex issues simultaneously, prioritize effectively, think strategically regarding assigned policy areas, seek input from manager and colleagues as needed, and quickly adjust to changing political environments.

Potential Salary
$110,500 - $144,305 per annum. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) is seeking a Director for its Advocacy and Strategic Alliance team. The individual will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholder organizations, including the patient advocacy community. In addition, the Director will lead on internal policy areas focused on access, coverage, and reimbursement policies, among other issues.
The Director will:
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key external organizations and coalitions;
- Actively participate in internal strategy meetings on issues impacting patient access to medicines in federal health care programs and commercial insurance;
- Develop third-party engagement strategies to educate and engage national organizations on patient access issues including cost-sharing assistance, Medicare coverage, and others;
- Organize frequent formal and informal meetings with key stakeholders and consultants;
- Organize member company facility tours for patient advocacy organizations;
- Proactively coordinate Alliance activities PhRMA-wide to execute successful integrated campaigns;
- Generate presentations and updates for internal and external constituencies;
- Manage 1-3 consultants, including the quality of their deliverables, timeliness of work, contract administration and budget; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Professional Experience / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred);
- 6+ years of applicable work experience (to include health care policy and/or advocacy experience);
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
- Strong work ethic, with ability to promptly respond to requests;
- Understanding of federal health care programs and the pharmaceutical supply chain;
- Ability to inspire confidence within the organization and with external constituencies;
- Ability to communicate complex policy issues to various audiences;
- Ability to balance the needs of various internal and external parties with flexibility and a steady temperament;
- Proficient user of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint;
- Must be willing to travel 15% of the time and be responsive/available after hours and on weekends.
