Responsibilities

Pilot-in-Command of Company aircraft responsible for the safety of passengers, crew and the comfortable, timely operation of the aircraft.

In this role your responsibilities include:
  • Determine that aircraft is airworthy and prepared for flight in accordance with FAA and Company regulations.
  • Supervises the flight crew and ensures that all flight and ground operations, during the transport of personnel, equipment or supplies to various locations under day, night, and instrument conditions comply with and are conducted in accordance with FAA, ICAO, and Company regulations.
  • Exercises extreme care and judgment while in flight, being alert to cope with irregularities and adverse weather conditions, so as to determine the appropriate course of action to ensure safety of passengers and Company property regarding possible delays, rerouting or flight cancellations.
  • Supervises loading of passengers, baggage and determines that aircraft performance data, weight and balance are within certifiable limits.
  • Coordinates flight planning with operational and scheduling personnel to advise passengers of arrival and departure times and weather information and to resolve other passenger requirements.
  • Ensures servicing, storing, proper care, security and protection of Company aircraft and equipment while away from home base.
  • Issues purchase orders and signs for fees and services contracted; conducts post-flight inspection of aircraft; and reports malfunction and operating data to the maintenance department.
  • Adheres to directions contained in flight operations related manuals, and related procedures.
  • Will participate proactively in the Aviation Safety Management system, and will perform other general department duties when not flying.


Qualifications

Education & Training Requirements:
  • Aeronautical experience and education sufficient to enable the skill and judgment required.
  • An FAA Airline Transport Pilot license. (Multi-Engine Land).
  • Turbojet Type Rated.
  • Detailed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Airman's Information Manual, Air Traffic Control procedures and aircraft systems.

Experience Requirements:
  • Logged a minimum of 2,500 hours.
  • Logged a minimum of 750 hours as pilot-in-command of jet aircraft.
  • G-VII Experience Preferred.
  • International Flight Operations Experience Preferred.
  • FAA First Class Medical required

Other Requirements:
  • Must be willing work at the General Dynamics' Corporate Headquarters' Flight Operations facility Monday through Friday and as needed weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel internationally, including valid passport.
  • Must live within a reasonable, commutable driving distance from the Flight Operations in Sterling, Virginia.
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated by start date unless medical or religious exceptions
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 62 pounds in order to:
    • remove emergency exit window.
    • bring passenger baggage into aircraft via the baggage door.
    • launch life raft in emergency situations.
