QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BCBA or ABA Certification Required.
  • Valid New Jersey Elementary Classroom Teacher and Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certifications preferred.
  • Supervisor Certification Preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching and behavioral strategies and methods which are developmentally appropriate for classroom activities.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team leader and as a team member in implementing strategies and intervention.

    SUPERVISES: Support staff as assigned

    JOB GOAL: To provide behavioral strategies and techniques to teaching and non-teaching staff members who are working with special needs students and regular education students in all classroom settings to remediate behavior and social problems and maintain a positive atmosphere in and outside the classroom.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Consult with general and/or special education staff to plan, develop and oversee student behavior plans, or evaluate specific behavioral interventions, strategies, and techniques for students in need.
  • Demonstrate how to implement specific behavioral interventions, strategies, and techniques.
  • Demonstrate effective practices.
  • Serve as a resource for professional and non-professional staff.
  • Conducts observations and evaluations for Paraprofessionals and/or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).
  • Identifies staff development needs through trainings, conferences, and literature reviews.
  • Prepare general and special education staff, students, and families for behavioral intervention programs.
  • Observe in the general and special education programs to observe children in need of behavioral interventions.
  • Resolve immediate concerns related to the needs of individual students.
  • Identify resources and materials for individual students or groups or students.
  • Monitor behavior intervention effectiveness and student progress.
  • Develop demonstration lessons to help teachers deal with behavioral issues that may arise throughout the school year.
  • Monitor classrooms and staff to ensure that behavioral intervention plans are being implemented.
  • Provide paraprofessionals with specific training to help them work effectively with teachers and students with behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate and plan with the Child Study Team in order to provide students with behavior plans that are suited to their individual needs through a Functional Behavioral Assessment when needed.
  • Assist other professionals with student crisis intervention.
  • Identify staff development needs through surveys/discussions and design appropriate in-service opportunities.
  • Continue professional growth through educational meetings, visiting related facilities, reading professional literature, and attending professional workshops for additional techniques and strategies to assist the staff and students.
  • Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
  • Provide continued support and direction for the Positive Behavior in School Systems program that is currently in operation.
  • Complete reports and submit completed referrals, interventions, and follow-up procedures to the Director of Special Services.
