Gradient, a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated, resourceful individual for a Principal Scientist position to support challenging technical work related to environmental chemistry projects. You will have the opportunity to join our growing practice in our downtown Boston, MA office.

Experience and Skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple large complex projects including planning, budgeting, and designing/delivering accurate, high quality work products that are well written and meet the needs of the project;
  • Interpret chemical signatures to discern different sources of chemicals in the environment;
  • Understand and comply with chemical registration requirements around the world;
  • Analyzed existing data and identified data gaps to support new chemical registrations in the US;
  • Direct efforts to analyze site data, compile historical information, and consider risk assessments in the context of cost allocation among different chemicals, sites, and parties;
  • Coordinate with commercial laboratories to obtain the necessary test data.
  • Provide technical direction to multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Support business development and mentor staff;
  • Sophisticated data analysis requiring critical thinking.

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or related geosciences field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental engineering or related geosciences field. (Ph.D. or equivalent preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of environmental consulting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting environmental chemistry projects including but not limited to chemical fingerprinting, environmental forensics, chemical registrations, regulatory comments, and litigation support. (preferred)
  • Exceptional written and oral communication. (required)
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with strict deadlines. (required)
  • Proven leadership skills including project management. (required)
  • Thorough knowledge of federal/state environmental regulations. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience with sophisticated data analysis (such as environmental transport modeling). (required)
