Design Engineer

Summary/Objective: Performs assigned engineering tasks for the design and preparation of plans and details, and performs design calculations for assigned projects. Responsible for the use of various computer programs to obtain results. Works closely with other staff to gain technical knowledge and work efficiency. This role is required to be onsite with the client three days per week.

Essential Functions

• Develops design concepts, details and drawings using CAD equipment
• Develops construction cost estimates, reports and specifications using computer programs
• Performs studies, analysis and design calculations, and documents design procedures
• Creates and runs computer models to aid in engineering analysis and design
• Prepares the project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates
• Applies applicable standards of practice to prepare the assigned civil, transportation, structural and/or site engineering plans and project documents
• Interfaces with various disciplines and CAD staff as needed to complete assigned tasks
• Performs field investigations and construction inspection duties as assigned
• Performs other duties as required by Project Managers/Department Manager

Education/Experience/Skills

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or related fields
• E.I.T. or P.E. licensure preferred
• Experience with aviation projects a plus
• 5 to 10 years of civil engineering in transportation/site development experience
• Computer skills and knowledge in AutoCAD/Civil3D and other related Windows based and engineering software
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to write reports, cost estimates, and scheduling and quantity take off
