Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:


Under supervision of the Associate Provost, the Business Intelligence Solutions Developer II works cooperatively with staff from the Frist College of Medicine to support reporting, business intelligence and data quality through the development, testing and maintenance of BI solutions including complex SQL queries, ETL development, integration tools, and report authoring.

Primary position responsibilities:
  • Work cooperatively with staff from the Frist College of Medicine todesign, develop and maintain tables, complex views, scripts and queries in anOracle and SQL Server environment to support the BI and reportinginfrastructure for Frist College of Medicine.
  • Provide leadership in the design, development, and maintenance of businessintelligence solutions, including creating/maintaining the university datawarehouse, metadata management, database modeling, ETL, multidimensional cubesand other analytical tools.
  • Support university data governance through creation of technicaldocumentation, business process documentation, training materials, and metadatasuch as business definitions, technical details and the university datadictionary.
  • Work cooperatively with staff from Information Technology and otherareas as needed to ensure university-wide standards are met for datawarehousing, reporting and business intelligence.
  • Design, develop and maintain SQL queries and application programs tomanage the transfer of data among systems, utilizing MS and Oracle SQL, Pythonor Boomi or other standard programming languages and tools.

    • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and basic databases and software.
    • Database expertise including complex SQL queries and database design.
    • Strong knowledge of Kimball model data warehouse architecture.
    • Familiarity with data systems commonly used in medical education.
    • Experience with API integration methodologies, especially Boomi.
    • Programming techniques and language proficiency including Python.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
    • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.


    Required Education
    Bachelor's degree required; preferred in computer science, information systems or related field.

    Required Experience
    5 years of progressive experience in directly related projects.Experience in a University environment, especially medical education preferred.

    The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
