The Opportunity:
Our client, an international mining company, is looking for a Chief Metallurgist to join their team in Northern Ontario.

The Mill Superintendent's main responsibility is to ensure the safe management and operation of the milling and maintenance department. They are also responsible for maintaining a safe work environment at all times.

They must be a committed team player with a strong knowledge of and dedication to Mill safety and Milling production methods. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide leadership, manage and supervise processing staff to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety standards and any applicable legislation.
  • Conduct regular and thorough inspections of all plant areas to ensure compliance with legislation, company safety and environment standards.
  • Ensure the mining department is kept aware of Mill processing requirements.
  • Assist the Mill Manager in developing the overall business strategy, particularly regarding processing technology, development and operations, infrastructure provision and maintenance.
  • Create a working environment which ensures that employees and contractors gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programs.
  • Work collaboratively with other process managers and supervisors within areas of operation.
  • Lead by example and ensure safe production behaviors are exhibited by all team members.
  • Manage the processes to ensure optimum employee performance, to identify and remedy substandard performance and behavior.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • 10 years' experience in a senior processing manager role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills an asset.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification an asset.
  • Basic Mill Process Operator Common Core an asset.
  • Milling experience and familiarity with mill circuits an asset.
  • Experience in mill management role an asset.
  • Refinery Operations experience is an asset.
  • Good safety knowledge and understanding with the ability to recognize, reduce, or eliminate hazards and situations that may cause problems.
  • Demonstrated experience with a genuine passion to providing exceptional leadership, coaching and mentoring to team.
  • Highly developed planning, analytical and problem-solving skills
