Job Description
BAE Systems is under contract to provide various engineering and technical services for U. S. Navy shipboard Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems, both in-port and underway. Our technicians are tasked to provide an array of services to include but not limited to: readiness reviews, system grooms, system certifications and technical assistance. The schedules for these events are dynamic, and the resources needed to support them are shared with other project work. The selected candidate must have good communication skills for interaction with the customers, their direct reports, internal functional organizations, and other managers.
The Field Support Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Manage fleet services
Attend daily meetings with government fleet liaisons to review tasking schedules, and status
Provide technical expertise and advisory services to customers and staff
Schedule personnel for planned and emergency travel
Write project assignments with charge numbers and deliverable requirements
Track fleet service projects to stay on budget and schedule
Arrange for test and shipment of repair parts to ships worldwide
Track payback status of repair parts supplied to the fleet
Schedule weekend / after-hours email and phone support
Supervise technician staff
Coordinate / schedule testing events
Assist with development and maintenance of training curriculum and training schedules
Travel as required
This position is located in San Diego, CA. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to San Diego or surrounding areas.
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience in the maintenance/management of military electronic systems OR Associate degree and 8 years of experience in the maintenance/management of military electronic systems OR High School diploma and 10 years of experience in the maintenance/management of military or defense electronic systems
At least five years of experience in the direct supervision and administration of technical teams
Recent experience in CVN, LHA, or LHD Combat Systems Organization (within the last five years)
