Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is a community basedhospital and Level 1 Trauma Center. Our Department of Neurosurgery is an accredited stroke center. We provide innovative and comprehensive surgical care to treat patients with a wide range of rare and complex conditions. Our team of highly trained and experienced neurosurgeons use the latest minimally invasive technology and surgical interventions to treat conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system.

We are currently seeking Physician Assistants with prior neurosurgery experience for immediate F/T Day, night, and weekend opportunities. Our ideal candidates will be flexible, willing, and able to work a combination of days, nights, and weekends.

DUTIES:

• As a Physician Assistant in our Neurosurgery Department, you will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of care, including medicine, pre-op, post-op, and discharge responsibilities. Additional responsibilities will include:
• Taking initial patient histories and performing physical examinations.
• Evaluating, diagnosing, developing, and managing treatment plans.
• Ordering and interpreting lab tests
• Counseling patients
• Performing various medical procedures and assisting in surgical operations.
• Conferring with attending physicians, residents, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.

Requirements

REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program, required.
• A licensed Physician Assistant by the New York State Department of Education is required.
• Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), is required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
