Who you are:

The Senior Logistics & Customs Specialist is responsible for the full compliance of all global customs and logistics requirements. This role works closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as service providers, to drive continuous improvement initiatives in warehousing, shipping (freight and customs), and global logistics (transportation, freight forwarding)

What you'll do:
  • Manage daily operations with the customs brokers, and stakeholders, identifying and mitigating potential risks or delays for all shipments.
  • Oversee and manage the customs clearance process, including the preparation and submission of documentation required for the efficient import and export of goods.
  • Conduct regular trade compliance audits and risk assessments to identify potential areas of vulnerability and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Provide project leadership and guidance for Geotab as subject matter expert in logistics and reverse logistics (RMAs).
  • Provide ongoing facilitation of the RMA logistics process globally ensuring we have proper coordination of warehousing, transportation, customs services in a timely manner.
  • Keep updated on the key issues affecting logistics such as customs, port strikes, legislative changes, etc.
  • Coordinate with Buyers, vendors, freight forwarders and carriers to ensure timely, accurate and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve day-to-day global operations especially in terms of customs compliance and import/export clearance requirements.
  • Document and manage the detailed requirements for importing/exporting goods including taxes, tariffs and VATS by region, while keeping legal and finance up to date.
How you'll make an impact
  • In coordination with internal and external stakeholders, ensure compliance with all customs regulations and relevant processes on North American and Global import and export transactions.
  • Develop duty drawback processes to ensure we have the ability to recover any duty payments.
  • Review our rates and services against billed amounts and develop reports, dashboards to assist in the reporting and management of all related logistics activities globally.
  • Proactively address logistics issues and work with all stakeholders to improve the customer experience.
  • Maintain strong relationships with our logistics partners including those handling our customs and freight requirements.
  • Assist in defining International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) for internal stakeholders.
What you'll bring to the role
  • 5 - 8 years of required previous experience in Logistics, warehousing and customs
  • Working within a technical organization with knowledge of the high-technology industries as an asset
  • Understanding of Freight, WMS, and International customs regulations, laws, and policies; trade agreements, certificates and marking of origin, customs clearance, customs & shipping documentation
  • Identifying logistics needs, developing effective solutions and managing projects through to completion
  • Bachelors in a related field
  • Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in related field may be substituted
  • Certified Customs Specialist and/or Certified CITT Logistics Professional
