SR DIRECTOR RELATIONS & VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

PURPOSE
Strengthen the bonds between SEMA and its members by Developing, Educating, and Supporting the organization's growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Works with staff to create, monitor and achieve annual department goals and priorities. Directs and supervises all Council and Network staff, functions, and programs. Supervise and train the Council and Network staff toward excellence in association management and attainment of individual, department, and organizational goals. Work directly with Council staff and leaders to develop their skills and knowledge to best work with and support the association's volunteer leadership. Facilitate communication and collaboration between Council and Board leadership to further the Council, Board, and association strategic priorities. Develop and adhere to annual operating budget for Councils & Network Departments. Review monthly financial reports to maintain budget controls. Work with the President on facilitating the annual Strategic Planning effort for the SEMA Board. Serve as the liaison to and project manager for the Council Leadership, which includes, but is not limited to, quarterly Council Leadership meetings and annual Leadership Summit. Schedule, coordinate and develop the presentation for the SEMA Annual Meeting. When directed by the President & CEO, perform other assignments and duties as required.
RELATIONSHIPS
TBD. Serves as liaison with SEMA Council-Board Leadership Committee. Interfaces with Vice Presidents/Directors/employees/Council leadership/Board of Directors. Interfaces with the Association members and prospective members. Interfaces with the facilitators and providers of development programs for volunteer leaders and staff.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven public speaking and managerial skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Bachelor's degree in management or related discipline or an equivalent number of years of direct related experience (5-7 years). Five to ten years experience in a management position with a trade association involving, volunteer engagement and facilitating chapters, subsidiary associations, or councils. CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation, or progress toward designation is preferred. Knowledge of the automotive aftermarket and its specialty segments is a plus.
