Job Summary:

The HR & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources and safety functions within our CPG food manufacturing facility. This role requires a strong emphasis on safety management, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies and programs. The HR & Safety Manager will also support general HR functions, ensuring compliance with labor laws and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Management:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead safety training initiatives for employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims, working closely with insurance providers and healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and drills, ensuring preparedness for potential incidents.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and inspectors.

Human Resources:
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring new hires are properly oriented and trained in safety procedures.
  • Administer employee relations programs, addressing issues and conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including goal setting, evaluations, and professional development plans.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies, providing guidance and support to management and employees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage employee benefits programs and answer related queries.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles and labor laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to lead safety training and initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA, CSP) is preferred.
