Job Summary
The Executive Director of Student Success provides the highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members for student service methodologies and standards in the office of Undergraduate and Teacher Education (UTE). This position is a leader in our UTE office, which serves as a central hub for students, including postbaccalaureate teacher-licensure candidates and supports undergraduates from admission into the School of Education to program completion and beyond.

Job Summary

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Conducts research on emerging technologies, services, protocol/processes and/or standards in support of student services efforts that enhance student success, lifelong learning and personal growth.
- Works with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Teacher Education (ADUTE) to be informed about current innovations in undergraduate student success practices and changes in the field of teacher education at the campus, local, state, and national level.
- Supervises the Directors of the day-to-day administration of student services initiatives in the office of UTE; reporting Directors oversee areas focused on academic processes (e.g., probation), clinical experiences, career services, retention, advising, and the INSPIRE Living Learning Center, as well as collaborate with offices of accreditation, records, recruitment and our Global Gateway for Teachers program.
- Maintains a strong commitment to fostering open communication and collaboration across UTE.
- Fosters a culture within the UTE of mutual respect for all persons.
- Works collaboratively with other student services leaders within the school and across Indiana University (IU) units to ensure that we recognize and celebrate the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to our organization.
- Works with the ADUTE to engage School of Education faculty, administrators and staff to create strong collaborations that serve students.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates office procedures for continuous improvement of student services to ensure student success.
- Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define student services methodologies and standards.
- Provides direction and guidance on high priority student services projects/initiatives.
- Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multiphase student services initiatives.
- Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
- Manages high level assignments and allocation of student services resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams.
- May coordinate large-scale student services projects with wide audiences in support of academic, wellness, inclusion, and safety initiatives.
- Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry student services standards, technologies, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
- Works collaboratively with other student services leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
- Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to student services.

- Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field.
