Director, Network Architecture & NOC

The Director of Network Architecture and NOC is responsible for the overall design and strategy of the company's networking infrastructure as well as its NOC Operations and associated support processes.

Responsibilities Network Architecture

Scope encompasses IP Architecture, optical transport operations, core network design, network security, routing, network augments, product development support, core network & network usage reporting. Specific responsibilities include;

• Maintain, monitor and supervise the daily operations of the network
  
  • Monitor and augment transit capacity
  • Monitor and augment backbone capacity
  • Provide proactive and reactive correction of network issues
  • Support local NetOps teams with daily operation of systems and network
  • Maintain best practices and network documentation
• Security
  
  • Supervise security of Wyyerd's infrastructure and network
  • Develop & implement policies and procedures for key systems
    
    • Firewalls, device access, ACL rules, physical access and encryption
  • Monitor compliance
    
    • Scans network to find noncompliance and issues
• Platform Support Responsibility
  
  • Core and regional routing infrastructure
  • Security firewalls
  • Core network monitoring and management servers
• Vendor Selection
  
  • Lead vendor identification, testing and selection in anticipation of future company needs
  • Select and build relationships with vendors that meet company needs
    
    • Equipment selection
    • Pricing
    • Updates
• Supervision of the daily health and maintenance of Wyyerd's infrastructure and network
  
  • Adapt and modify to meet company requirements
  • Supervise development of scripts and software to support Wyyerd's network
  • Supervise deployment of support systems and applications required by the network

Responsibilities Network Operations

Scope encompasses NOC interaction and support. Responsible for supplying network health assessment to the operation and aiding in troubleshooting and resolution of problems identified. Specific responsibilities include;

• Management of organization responsible for monitoring, surveillance and incident management
• Problem management and change management of the Wyyerd Network
• Surveillance, triage, tier II & III troubleshooting and management of impacts through escalation, if needed, for restoration of the Wyyerd Fiber network
• Manage NOC processes and procedures to ensure optimum responsiveness, communication and problem resolution
  
  • Oversee critical customer and outage issues to full resolution

Experience/Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years industry experience
• Previous network architecture or engineering experience required
• Previous Network Operations experience required
• Working knowledge of routing and switching protocols
• Working knowledge of support applications (dhcp, dns, snmp)
• Working knowledge of fiber plants (inside and outside)
• Working knowledge of equipment power management
