The Senior Vice President of Advancement oversees and directs fundraising activities including creating and implementing a comprehensive Agency-wide strategy in coordination with leadership; creating and implementing an annual fundraising plan; and researching, identifying, cultivating and soliciting funds from public and private funding entities and individuals. The Senior Vice President of Advancement develops Agency-wide long-range fundraising goals in alignment with Catholic Charities' mission and strategic objectives and works strategically to achieve fundraising goals by executing plans and developing relationships with donors. RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy with input and approval from senior leadership and the Board of Trustees to support the Agency's strategic plans. Establish appropriate metrics and process for monitoring, measuring and reporting results on an ongoing basis to the President, CEO and Board of Trustees
Create a culture of excellence in the Advancement Department by recruiting, mentoring and leading a team of highly skilled, dedicated fundraisers and operations experts. Demonstrate thought leadership, listening, problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, along with intellectual curiosity to seek continuous improvement and support a positive work environment.
Set clear performance goals and expectations; provide ongoing performance feedback and annual performance evaluations
Spark a passion for supporting Catholic Charities among existing and prospective donors in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team. Use compelling storytelling to highlight the work of the Agency and the impact on clients
Research, identify, cultivate and solicit funds from public and private foundations and individuals; work collaboratively with the Senior Vice President of Government and Community Affairs and the grants team
Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, working collaboratively to implement the mission of Catholic Charities
Attend and present at Board of Trustees meetings and work directly with members on committees as assigned by the Chair. Attend and present at advisory board meetings as needed
Partner with the President on major gift fundraising; coordinate President's introductions to current and prospective major donors
Develop a systematic process for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects
Identify potential contributors to special projects and supporters of Agency ongoing operations through examination of past records and knowledge of the community
Ensure stewardship at the highest standards across the Advancement Department with careful accounting of gifts and prompt, personalized acknowledgement Serve as a key representative of the organization, as appropriate; attend special events throughout the state
Provide leadership and management for Agency-wide advancement activities
Collaborate with Core Services Vice Presidents to support fundraising goals and identify compelling client stories
Grow the Annual Fund, Direct Mail, Digital Fundraising, and Special Events programs and overhaul the Planned Giving Program
In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team, support the creation and preparation of solicitation materials for fundraising activities Develop materials and special events to enhance the Agency's image and promote a culture of philanthropy
Oversee the planning, organization, staffing, direction and coordination of ongoing and special project fundraising programs for the Agency including major events Remain current on trends and developments within the field of philanthropy and stewardship
Working with leadership, develop key metrics and the annual budget for Advancement Department with team leaders and key staff. Establish a process to monitor, manage and report results monthly providing analysis of key fluctuations and drivers from budget and prior year, including a quarterly reforecast for the year
Work-related regional travel 25-50% of the time Attend internal and external meetings and training sessions as required
Attend day, evening and weekend events as required Other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor or master's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience working in advancement/development with management, direct mail, annual fund, planned giving, capital campaign, and event planning experience Must have proven major gift fundraising experience
Experience working with and motivating Boards and committees A minimum of 5-7 years of supervisory experience
Ability to write and communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy Budget management experience as well as strong planning, organizational and administrative skills
A strong interest in building teams with goal-oriented outcomes Superb interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, donors and volunteers
Highly skilled within Microsoft Office Suite, with particular strengths in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be computer and internet proficient, with the ability to learn CRM database. Raiser's Edge database experience, a strong plus
Ability to organize, establish objectives and priorities, achieve goals and meet deadlines A commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities
Ability to work days, evenings and weekends as needed
Must be willing to travel to remote agency locations including donor meetings and events
A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for travel
