Summary of position: The Welding Trainer is responsible for developing welders specific to the organization's business and production processes. The primary functions of this role require the Welding Trainer to gain expertise within the organization, train and test welders on certain qualifications, and keep accurate data on current welding staff.
Essential Functions

- Develop curriculum and present training on safety, welding processes, brazing, and inspection. Conduct specialized training topics as needed
- Schedule and administer hands-on welding training and testing per company certification requirements.
- Control, maintain and issue the Welder Index sheet and update inactive welder qualifications
- Review welding procedure specifications (WPS) to ensure training practices meet compliance and modify as needed
- Understand and adapt to individual corporate culture
- Develop expert knowledge of corporate Standard Operating Procedure, work instructions, and business processes as it relates to welding
- Advise and communicate across the organization as it relates to welder training, testing, qualifications, and reporting.
- Maintain required records, advise results, and identify additional necessary training
- Review with the welder each welding procedure specification and welder's performance qualifications for each test (WPQT)
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years (14,000 hours) verifiable occupational experience in welding and brazing OR
- Technical Diploma in Welding plus an Associates degree in another discipline and 4.5 years (9,000 hours) verifiable occupational experience in welding and brazing OR
- Associates Degree in Welding and 3.5 years (7,000 hours) directly related occupational experience OR
- Bachelor's Degree with 2 years (4,000 hours) occupational experience in welding and brazing
- Qualified to obtain or already has American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Must obtain within one year of hire date
- Hearing Baseline Test and annual audiogram
