About the Role
The Engineering Manager Heavy Weapon Carrier (HWC) leads and manages the design developments in order to deliver the HWC Program. The role is responsible to ensure designs are compliant with internal and external specifications and requirements in order to allow the Chief Engineer to certify a compliant design.

About the Role
The Engineering Manager Heavy Weapon Carrier (HWC) leads and manages the design developments in order to deliver the HWC Program. The role is responsible to ensure designs are compliant with internal and external specifications and requirements in order to allow the Chief Engineer to certify a compliant design.
The duties of the Engineering Manager (HWC) you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Manage the development of functional specifications and execution of work packages which form basis for design developments (in collaboration with the allocated Systems Engineers);
- For the allocated design developments, act as the primary point of contact with European Rheinmetall entities and participate or lead regular meetings, forming close and productive relationships;
- Allocate work packages to the other Engineering functions within the HWC team, and the broader business, in order to deliver specification compliant designs;
- Provide active and forward-leaning management of the Australian customer to support Contractual outcomes;
- Monitor and report the overall status of design developments against specification, schedule and cost and provide forecasts of technical progress;
- Prioritise tasks and manage the engineering teams to conceive, develop and deliver design solutions;
- Conduct internal design reviews, approving work to progress through Team Center, acting as the internal design approving authority in order to deliver compliant designs for Chief Engineer design acceptance certification;
- Provide timely and comprehensive technical advice to the Chief Engineer;
- Provide problem solving and continuous improvement support to Production and Through Life Support; and
- Assist in the development of departmental capability including the development of tools, processes and templates.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering that is recognised by Engineers Australia;
- Extensive engineering experience in military or automotive vehicle design;
- Demonstrated high level of technical team leadership experience;
- Have excellent written English communication skills using automotive engineering terminology; and
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
