Yusen Terminals LLC ("YTI", based in Terminal Island (Los Angeles), CA, is wholly owned by Ocean Network Express (ONE), with office headquarters in Singapore.
YTI operates a state-of-the-art marine container terminal in the Port of Los Angeles. YTI was established in 1991 at the Port's Berths 212-218. The services we provide are stevedoring and terminal operations for The Alliance (ONE, Hapag Lloyd, HMM and Yang Ming) as well as slot chartering from Evergreen, CMA-CGM, APL, COSCO and OOCL. As a full-service marine terminal, YTI provides modern technology, equipment, on-dock rail, storage facilities and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP). YTI's highly experienced management team are devoted to efficient cargo handling with a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction. We currently operate eleven Post Panamax Gantry cranes including six, state-of-the-art Super Post Panamax Gantry cranes. YTI is focused on giving all our customers a reliable "Best-in-Class" service delivery as well as a complete suite of marine terminal services to the shipping and transportation community.

We are looking for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset as the General Manager, M&R. You get to run a $40 million business. The expectation is extremely high but the ability to be innovative and team-oriented is paramount to succeed.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the General Manager, M&R will be responsible for Maintenance and Repair operations (M&R) by indirectly supervising third party labor parts mechanics, safeguarding YTI M&R inventory assets, and working with 3rd party labor provider to maintain integrity of the MAS 500 Inventory Control System.

What you will do:
- Manage operating budget in excess of $40 million annually; develop annual budget and action plans to achieve cost efficiency for Crane and Power shops while achieving profitability in the Chassis and Reefer shops along with reasonable productivity levels; manage timely and accurate analysis of profitability projections, trends and progress.
- Oversee maintenance and repair operations to ensure vendor, Pacific Crane Maintenance Company (PCMC) exceeds service levels on equipment uptime to support terminal operations while meeting budgeted costs in addition to managing chassis and reefer repair operations to achieve budgeted revenues. Continuous and Periodic review with YTI senior team regarding mechanic efficiency and key repair task logs is required.
- Develop policies and procedures to safeguard YTI M&R parts inventory.
- Responsible for budgetary management for Power, Crane, Chassis and Refers (major expenses with labor, parts and consumables).
- Manage M&R revenue streams: repairing chassis (bill chassis owners), repairing gensets, repairing refers, plug/unplug refers, monitor refers and repair containers.
- Manage YTI's Preventative Maintenance schedule on all equipment (cranes, top handlers, UTRs, etc.).
- Responsible for M&R chassis & reefer billing process (PCMC) to ensure accuracy of work orders and resolve any billing discrepancies (50/50 with Finance).
- Lead and manage yearly physical parts inventory.
- Interface with supplier representatives and review new products and materials for possible cost savings. Responsible for the implementation of effective procurement and invoice handling process with YTI accounting team in accordance with the new process under the new ERP system.
- Lead and manage purchasing and service contract negotiations.
- Manage day-to-day Chassis repairs (Trac Intermodal, DCLI, Flexi-Van).
- Responsible for annual fixed asset physical inventory.
- Negotiate the sale of all used YTI equipment.
- Reinforce YTI's safety philosophy and requirement in workplace of M&R area in accordance with the guidance and direction of VP of Safety at YTI.
What you will bring:
- An undergraduate degree in Business Administration or a four-year degree in related field preferred.
- Minimum of seven or more years of related experience.
- Ability to manage and perform purchasing function for mid-to-large size organizations.
- Ability to manage both tactical and strategic aspects of M&R business.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Must have thorough knowledge of inventory control.
- Knowledge of the transportation, warehousing, international forwarding or general logistics industry may be helpful, but not required.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and other requirements.
- Strong customer orientated focus.
- Ability to lead high performance teams and be a team player.
- Demonstrated ability to train and motivate people to achieve objectives.
- Excellent negotiation skills and change management experience.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience working in a maritime facility environment is preferred, but not required.
