SUMMARY

Ensure an attractive, well-maintained club, and the ultimate in member and guest satisfaction at all times by maintaining the guestrooms, public space and back of house areas in good repair by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades including, but not limited to: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, painting, wall coverings and masonry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspect guestrooms, public space and back of the house areas to repair or replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, exit lights, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall covering, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous repairs. This requires the individual to visually inspect and detect items needing repair and requires considerable knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance trades. Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical experience are used frequently on the job. Performing these duties requires experience in using basic hand and power tools and ability to stoop, kneel, grasp, lift, push and pull weights up to 80 pounds, climb ladders up to 30 feet high and reach in all directions, often times over head. Maintain a clean environment by picking up and removing debris from around property. Electrical rooms throughout facilities must stay clean and locked at all times, reporting and up to repairing any and all safety conditions. This position will require a combination of the following functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the club.
Including but not limited to:
  • Initiate interventions to solve problems in the facilities.
  • Must be willing to respond to emergencies after hours.
  • Responsible of transmitting maintenance and urgent issues to engineering management efficiently with the needed immediacy according to any given situation.
  • Responsible for scheduling work for assigned associates 7 days a week.
  • Responsible for working for other members of the engineering team when time off is needed.
  • During workdays, responsible for coordinating work assignments, as necessary, among Engineering Team personnel; manage the MAC process (ads and changes).
  • Manage each skilled trade such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility maintenance for corrective, emergency, preventative maintenance, and other assigned general maintenance operations.
  • Constantly evaluate the work quality of his associates and other subordinates giving timely, constructive feedback. Including but not limited to; coach and council, correction reviews, and performance reviews.
  • Demonstrates leadership, motivate and engage associates in a positive environment, improve productivity and team effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with other club departments.
  • Create and maintain effective and positive communication with all members on the engineering team including managers and associates.
  • Evaluate the work quality of assigned associates and other subordinates.
  • Responsible for completion of assigned associates yearly evaluations and other documentation such as accident reports and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee facilities maintenance, repairs, renovations and construction activities, and coordinate the activities of the trades to utilize associates, materials, and equipment effectively and efficiently.
  • Responsible for enforcing current inventory control procedures including, but not limited to, parts room inventory, vehicles inventory, keys, and any other equipment under departmental responsibility.
  • Maintain all HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, engineering lighting equipment, lifts, carts, full size vehicles, and any other equipment under departmental responsibility.
  • Carry out simple projects of carpentry, painting, and/or renovation.
  • Responsible for constantly touring and inspecting to ensure proper maintenance requirements in departmental areas of responsibility.
  • Able to climb and inspect areas of limited access such as roofs, small spaces, attics, and maintenance corridors in a safe manner as required by any maintenance task, given assignment or maintenance emergency.
  • Continually develop original and fresh techniques to enhance the maintenance process.
  • Create and enforce effective preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Constantly enforce quality and safety standards among all engineering associates.
  • Ability to participate in emergency life saving drills and required training.
  • Must have skill and ability to handle building mechanical systems and controls, electrical systems, energy management, interior finishes and products, and management/supervisor skills.
  • Develop and be accountable for a safety culture that creates a work environment with no injuries.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures directed to increase departmental performance and safety.
  • Educate the associates on the proper use and care of equipment and other facilities.
  • Teach by example and proper training hospitality skills and procedures to associates.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and environmental regulations and other local, state, and federal government regulations.
  • Implement Human Resources policies and procedures as described in the Associate Handbook.
  • Follows computerized management system management established protocols.
  • Educate the associates on the proper use and care of equipment and other facilities.
  • Teach by example and proper training hospitality skills and procedures to associates.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and environmental regulations and other local, state, and federal government regulations.
  • Implement Human Resources policies and procedures as described in the Associate Handbook.
  • Follows computerized management system management established protocols.
  • Propose capital projects directed to enhance property facility condition addressing any potential or exiting maintenance issues.
  • Ability to fluently and clearly read, write and speak English.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - Engineering Managers are responsible for the supervision of hourly associates and the timely coordination of work within the framework of company policies. Review and administer daily work assignments with an emphasis on maintaining a rigid preventive maintenance program.

QUALIFICATIONS - To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Schedule, supervise, and train engineering associates.
  • Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Ensure proper operation of all systems and equipment for the safety and comfort of all Guests/Members and associates.
  • Ensure a timely response to all maintenance requests.
  • Ensure all associates comply with the rules and regulations of the Ocean Reef club.
  • Ensure all associates comply with local, state, federal rules and regulations (such as OSHA, EPA and ADA).
  • Ensure all associates comply with set personal safety standards.
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations (such as fire alarms and major water and sewage breaks).
  • Provide shift coverage for other Supervisors and associates (vacation, days off, at times with no notice).
  • Check in with each crewmember throughout day and night.
  • Complete daily inspections assigned by Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • Skilled in the use of related tools (including both hand and electric tools).
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping and kneeling.
  • Ability to push and pull objects or material weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, working at height up to approximately 30 feet for extended periods of time, with ability to reach, often overhead.
  • Ability to grasp, lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally waist high.
  • Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment.
  • Ability to move and work throughout the club for the duration of the shift.

Due to the nature of the business, the supervisor will be required to perform other duties and special projects assigned by the Chief Engineer or DOE

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE. - Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience of a minimum of ten years that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. A high school diploma and training from an accredited trade school, hotel, resort, and/or private club is preferred.

LANGUAGE - Must be able to comprehend the English language and demonstrate the ability to express and exchange ideas through oral and written communication and convey detailed and/or important instructions accurately, loudly and/or quickly

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic mathematical skills required

REASONING ABILITY - Must be able to set priorities. Must be able to recognize, handle, and respect the confidentiality of certain information. Must possess the ability to meet deadlines and exercise initiative within allowed limits.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The engineering department is very demanding, fast paced and professional. The engineering department thrives on achieving the mission statement twenty-four hours a day. To achieve this statement the following must be done:
