Job Objectives: Germantown Municipal School District's Principal motivates, inspires, and moves teachers and students to action to achieve ambitious goals as pertinent to their own individual growth and what is best for the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Professional Tennessee Teaching License and Instructional Leader License with endorsement in Educational Administration/Supervision
At least (5) years of administrative or supervisory experience in an educational setting preferred
At least five (5) years of successful middle/high school teaching experience preferred
Such alternatives as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assumes full responsibility for the organization, implementation, and administration of the total school program as it relates to student, faculty, and other assigned personnel
Assumes responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of the instructional program and the assignment, supervision, and evaluation of all personnel involved in the total school program
Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary
Assumes responsibility for providing conditions within the school, which are conducive to learning
Adheres to policies, principles, and procedures for the internal school accounting as approved by the Germantown Municipal School Board in compliance with the Internal School Accounting Act
Assumes responsibility for administering the funds allocated on a per pupil basis to the school in a manner, which will assure maximize utilization of the funds
Adheres to professional, ethical, and moral standards of conduct in the transaction of all school business
Cooperates with those agencies of state and local governments that render services to students
Establishes effective communication with students, teachers, parents, and community organizations and provides opportunities for community involvement in all phases of the school program
Prepares and submits to the appropriate agencies (GMSD Board of Education, State Department of Education, etc.) all required records and reports
Administers the school program according to the standards of the local Board of Education and State Board of Education
Serves as supervisor of the school plant and facilities and requests the maintenance necessary for insuring the health and safety of all students and personnel
Utilizes the support services provided by Germantown Municipal School District to improve the effectiveness of the school program
Adheres to due process procedures in all matters relating to the rights, welfare, and personal safety of students and personnel
Assumes responsibility for seeing that the school complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and for keeping faculty and staff members informed of their responsibilities pertaining to student safety
Improves professional skills and knowledge; assumes educational leadership roles; and performs duties in a professional, honest, and responsible manner
Maintains and accounts for the funds generated by student activities
Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent and/or Deputy Superintendent

Demonstrated leadership in an educational setting desirable
Proficient in the use of computers to include word processing, database and spreadsheet applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work at all levels
Ability to exhibit pragmatic, analytical and creative thinking
Ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate and complete reports including statistics

Reports to: Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of GMSD

The GMSD Principal (9-12) maintains a forty-hour (40) workweek and works additional hours
as required to carry out all of the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises staff and students in the classrooms, common areas, and extra-curricular events. Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. Standard office and school environment
