What You'll Do in This Position

SRNS is seeking to hire a Fire Protection Engineer and Technical Support Specialist to assist in the management and direction of the SRPPF Building Safety Program Procedure. This includes plan check and building jurisdictional inspection functions to ensure compliance with adopted codes, site standards, policies, and laws. This position assists with answering RFI's, responding to discrepancies from special inspectors, and provides design oversight for the program. Responsible for daily direction, planning, scheduling inspection activities, and monitoring to ensure consistent and uniform application of codes and standards.
Ability to:
Read plans and construction drawings.
Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with ICC Codes and SRS standards/policies.
Develop code interpretation-based technical documents.
Effectively represent the DA in meetings with governmental agencies and contractors.
Engage in face-to-face and electronic communication among different stakeholders.
Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships and networks with those contacted in the course of work.
Fostering an atmosphere of teamwork among staff; plan, organize, and participate in the work of staff engaged in the performance of complex, technical engineering work.
Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines.
Prepare and present clear, concise, and logically written and oral reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other written materials.
Draft and review code/project-related correspondence between project stakeholders.
Engage constructively with those offering a differing or conflicting opinion.
Consider broad input and prioritize accordingly.
Manage and advance multiple priorities, including plan review and inspection of large and complex projects concurrently, to meet established timelines.
Adequately respond to time-sensitive issues during construction.
Operate modern office equipment, including computer equipment and software programs relevant to the work performed.
Communicate effectively in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
Consistently demonstrate professionalism, ethical integrity, and exceptional customer service.
Celebrate the achievements and success of the organization.

Knowledge of:
NPFA/ICC codes and interpretation of code requirements.
Understanding of standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques within Fire Protection.
Working knowledge of active and passive fire protection systems.
Principles, methods, and techniques of fire protection, building inspection, materials, and design; construction; safety standards; and modern methods of building construction.
Methods of researching building issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations.
Conflict resolution skills.
Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning and assignment, review and evaluation, and the training of staff in work procedures.
Professional level writing techniques, including proper grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.

Other Qualifications

- ICC Fire Marshal or Approved State Equivalent required.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.

Qualifications We Desire

College degree in engineering, technical or mechanical area is preferred.
Comprehensive familiarity with facility processes, systems, and equipment.
Extensive progressive experience in practical engineering knowledge and its application.
Advanced knowledge of site work control procedures and practices for both maintenance and operations.
Clear understanding of work hazards, safety programs, operating configuration and lockout/hold identification.
Additional specialized knowledge preferred varies with the particular technical assignment.
State Licensed Engineer/Architect or ICC Building Official preferred.
