Reporting to the Executive Director of Enterprise Business Solutions, the Enterprise Operations Manager (EOM) will serve in a key FPB leadership role managing operational oversight and relationships with University's Shared Environments support teams. In this role, the manager will lead and engage with Shared Environment governance representatives to identify business needs, develop operational improvement strategies, and design a strategic roadmap for business oriented Workday functionality, ancillary technology platforms, and software integration enhancements.

The EOM will synthesize cross-functional needs, observations, and insights to define operating model strategy, develop & drive process standardization, gather business user input for suggestions about Workday Finance, design and model process improvement solutions, and present information back to the Shared Environments to maintain a cohesive communications loop. This work will involve facilitating engagement and buy-in from the Shared Environments on planned changes, identifying their collective priorities, gathering preliminary and general business requirements to support Workday Finance design & configuration change requests, and managing the coordination of changes across interdisciplinary teams within FPB, UWIT, and other organizational partners.

Additionally, the EOM will be responsible for developing and facilitating the Workday Finance Community of Practice (CoP), developing an interdisciplinary collective of business owners and subject matter experts within the campus community.

To be successful in this role, the incumbent must demonstrate superior communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to plan, schedule, support, and deliver multiple complex deliverables under tight deadlines. Experience in finance & operations administration and navigating the complexities of matrixed organizations is required. Experience with Workday's HCM or FIN modules is highly preferred.

Position Complexities

Workday Finance Community Support:
Responsible for day-to-day operations management
Work with a diverse group of individuals; placing a value on diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
Cross-functional collaboration with various FPB teams
Navigate the uncertainty and ambiguity often inherent in the transformative work of stabilization and ongoing optimization of Workday Finance

Campus leadership:
Collaborate, communicate, and coordinate the internal/external stakeholders and policy training for the university
Provide strategy-driven, peer-to-peer leadership to colleagues across the FPB
Successfully navigate the complex structure of a central/decentral systems at the University
Negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts between unit requests and priorities and FPB and University mission, goals, and priorities
Lead and move projects forward effectively, even in situations where they have little or no direct control of or influence over project partners
Understand and navigate the complex structure of centralized systems of the University that includes decentralized support mechanisms and competing priorities.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal partners and external partners

Program and Project Development
Develop a training strategy to communicate to the UW campus all applicable and relevant updates, guidance, policies, procedures guidance, and best practices
Work closely with Shared Environment teams, other functional teams, and external partners to design, model, and identify improvements to enhance our training and communication approach
Collaborate with the Executive Director for EBS to develop and communicate vision and programmatic direction
Build, enhance, and continuously improve a robust program optimizing both central and unit resources to achieve goals
Create new strategies utilizing new techniques and technology; implement innovative techniques to ensure the most effective program
Seek ways to continuously improve the program by using exceptional judgment and personal organization skills
Create and update tools and resources for program users
Follow trends in the market; identify, develop, and disseminate best practices

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Liaison to Shared Environments
Serve as the FPB liaison to Shared Environments (SE) to understand, identify, and plan solutions to address pain points or other opportunities for improvement with Workday Finance configuration, business operations, and workflows
Develop strategic process improvement, business operations, and operating model recommendations that align with organizational priorities and effectively leverage enterprise technology platforms
Standardize core business function processes
Lead the evolution of university shared service model roles, responsibilities, and service opportunities
Plan, control, and manage delivery of large-scale business model and process changes
Identify critical business needs and desired Workday functionality; create and maintain a roadmap for strategic improvements
Build an effective communication mechanism and strategy to maintain alignment between the Shared Environments, FPB, and UWiT teams
Create and sustain a new Workday Finance Community of Practice (CoP)
Foster growth for Subject Matter Experts within the userbase
Drive process development and ownership
Create campus community-based support system

SE Support and Knowledge Transfer
Identify opportunities for training and education; coordinate development and delivery of materials and delivery methods with training and communications resources
Foster development of business super users as integral peer support resources within the SE Workday Finance CoP
Maintain up to date knowledge of Workday releases and features that will improve SE user experience, engagement, and platform adoption
Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal partners (central partners and unit partners) and external partners (Shared Environments, community, vendors, and suppliers)
Communicate Workday strategy and roadmaps for Workday Finance to SE representatives

Other duties as assigned
Train and cross train staff within Finance, Planning, and Budgeting
Act as a strategic advisor within FPB/EBS

Lead Responsibilities:

This position provides significant leadership support for Shared Environments, will develop communications plans and strategies to ensure cohesive messaging for Workday Finance, operations support, and process. The role will work directly with top level campus administrators to identify and prioritize improvement efforts across operational and technical disciplines, including the Workday platform. This position also provides leadership and feedback to FPB and other enterprise stakeholders to support organizational alignment in process and messaging.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role will indirectly supervise cross-functional resources in a matrixed leadership environment.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Communication, Organization Development, or related field and 5 years of progressive experience in a consultative, business advisory or strategic role. Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree.

Excellent interpersonal skills (including verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills) with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and campus partners, with both technical and non-technical audiences to gain consensus

Ability to lead and participate in functional analysis that informs technical testing and development decisions

Experience in developing communications strategies effectively across various audiences such as diverse stakeholders, including customers, business process owners and executive leadership to gain consensus among different members

Ability to train and guide customers through complex technical processes

Experience using proactive continuous improvement/iterative approach to meet Shared Environment support design requirements, demonstrating agility in providing client support while maintaining policy and compliance standards

Demonstrated experience working on diverse groups and teams; respects, values, and contributes to FPB and UW's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity
