615 Ventures is a Nashville-based investment firm that creates value through the acquisition and management of commercial real estate nationwide. 615 Ventures manages retail, office, industrial, SNTL and residential assets across seven U.S. markets. In addition to our commercial real estate efforts, we also evaluate company acquisitions primarily in the greater Nashville, TN area.

The opportunity

615 Ventures is currently seeking a full-time director of operations to lead one of our portfolio companies.

As a Director of Operations, you will drive the growth and expansion of our STEP tank installation and horizontal development company. This role will oversee and manage all aspects of the company operations and play a crucial role in all aspects of the company's success. The position requires strong leadership skills, experience with managing construction teams and projects, knowledge of heavy equipment, excellent customer service, and a deeply ingrained sense of urgency.

What you'll do
  • Identify and call on prospective customers to drive sales growth
  • Develop and maintain customer and vendor relationships
  • Supervise and lead a team of field personnel, ensuring productivity, adherence to safety protocols, and high-quality workmanship
  • Coordinate and schedule equipment repairs to minimize machine downtime
  • Maintain materials inventory and order additional parts as needed
  • Recruit and hire personnel alongside crew leads
  • Supervise development efforts to keep projects within a design, budget, and schedule expectations
  • Prepare estimates for prospective projects with a review of specifications, drawings, and takeoff information
  • Negotiate change orders when needed
  • Ensure quick and accurate billing alongside our shared finance team
  • Problem-solve on the fly with crews as issues arise
  • Coordinate with equipment rental companies as needed


Who you are
  • Has ownership in outcomes both good and bad, ownership in team performance
  • Resourceful in solving operational and organizational problems
  • Innate sense of urgency to address customer complaints, provide project bids, and drive completion of projects
  • Excellent customer service and responsiveness to client needs
  • Strong relationship-building skills in business development efforts
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within the excavation or construction industry
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in project management software Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment, and safety standards (preferred)

Salary Range

Final total compensation is based on a multitude of factors including, but not limited to, skill level, relevant experience to the position, and cost of labor.

Annual pay range

$135,000-$150,000 USD
