Job Summary
Responsible for providing effective leadership and program direction to the quality resource management division of the Quality Management Services Department. Provides for the development, coordination and integration of both the quality and utilization management activities within the pavilion. Role models effective communication, conflict management, problem solving, negotiation, change management and leadership skills. Assists in development of strategic plan for Quality program that identifies short term goals that address immediate needs and priorities, identifies long term goals that exemplify desired state, and goals and objectives with measurable outcomes. Uses a systematic approach to monitor the effectiveness of prevention and control strategies that are consistent with the organizations and objectives. Acts as an information resource for committees and departments. Systematically evaluates the effectiveness of the program appropriate to the practice setting. Functions as a integral part of performance improvement initiatives to promote positive outcomes. Works with all Medical Staff Services, Nursing and Allied Health and/or Support services to ensure successful resolution and outcome. Assures that an effective educational program exist within the division that will demonstrate professional competency. Skilled in leading a diverse group of individuals performing a variety of functions. Serves as a change agent.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure:
-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Required)
-Master of Science in Nursing or related field (Preferred)
- Registered Nurse, BSN; Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program; Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality- National Association of Health Care Quality (Required within 2 years of hire)
Work Experience (Years and Area): Five (5) years clinical experience with at least three (3) in hospital related quality assessment and performance improvement program development inclusive of medical staff performance improvement. Two (2) years in utilization management.
Management Experience (Years and Area): Three (3) years management experience in a clinical setting.
Equipment Operated: Personal Computer, Fax Machine, Xerox Machine, Window Based Program (i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc).
Special Requirements
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy
Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking), Writing /Composing, (Correspondence/ Reports)
Other Skills: Analytical, Design, Medical Terminology Knowledge, Mathematics, Research, Statistical, Typing wpm 35-40 Word Processing, P.C., MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio
Work Schedule: Travel, Hybrid Telecommute
Other Requirements: May require extended hours in addition to weekend/holidays for special projects. Team player. Ability to plan, organize and successfully implement programs that will not only maintain compliance with established standards but improve systems and/or processes. Working knowledge of externally mandated Quality Management program requirements (state and federal; DNV,; regulatory and licensing agencies etc). Demonstrated leadership ability. Proven ability to manage complex information and situations successfully.
