We help farmers, energy generators, and insurers make better decisions with exceptionally accurate 2-52 week weather forecasts. Our award-winning machine learning is grounded in decades of research at MIT/WHOI to produce actionable insights. Job Responsibilities

As a Geospatial Data Engineer you will collaborate with a team of engineers to connect Salient's best-in-class forecasts with downstream customer-facing use cases.
Interface meteorological data to existing or new hydrological, energy, and agricultural models
Acquire new data sets to complement Salient's existing archive
Drive model results with reliable, scalable pipelines
Deliver data to customers via API or user interface

If US-based, prefer a resident of AK, CO, IL, MA, MN, NH, NJ, NY, NC, PA, OK, RI, TX, VA or WA

Job Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:
Delivered projects that store and process geospatial data with the Pangeo stack
e.g. xarray, dask, Zarr, NetCDF, GRIB
Experience building and managing cloud Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data flows
e.g. beam, docker, kubernetes, GCP, AWS
Experience with APIs and user interface toolkits
e.g. Flask, Mapbox, Highcharts

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Familiarity with meteorological and climate data
e.g. ERA, GFS, SEAS5, ISD, MERRA
Prior experience with hydrological models
e.g. VIC, SHyFT
Knowledge of source control (git), issue tracking (JIRA)
Previous experience with startups, agile/scrum, software teamwork

Level: Associate
3 years commercial or Master's-level academic experience
