JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Cloudera Distribution for Hadoop (CDH) Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Hadoop clusters and associated big data tools. You will work closely with other engineers and IT teams to ensure efficient data processing and management using Cloudera's suite of technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain CDH clusters to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Develop and optimize data processing workflows using tools such as Hive, Impala, and Spark.
  • Monitor cluster health, manage resources, and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Implement security measures, including user authentication, data encryption, and access control.
  • Integrate CDH with other systems and tools, such as databases and business intelligence platforms.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and implement data processing strategies and solutions.
  • Document configurations, processes, and procedures related to CDH operations.
  • Provide technical support and training to team members and stakeholders on CDH technologies.

Years of Experience

Minimum of 5 years of CDH and other relevant experience.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Certification(s)
One of the following:
  • Cloudera Certified Associate (CCA)
  • Cloudera Certified Professional (CCP)

Other relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty, Google Professional Data Engineer) are desired, but not required.

Experience
  • Hadoop Ecosystem Management: Proven experience in deploying, configuring, and maintaining CDH clusters, including components like HDFS, YARN, and MapReduce.
  • Data Processing: Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks and tools within CDH, such as Apache Hive, Apache Impala, Apache Pig, and Apache Spark.
  • Cluster Administration: Practical knowledge in setting up and managing Hadoop clusters, including performing upgrades, managing node failures, and ensuring cluster health.
  • Performance Tuning: Experience in optimizing the performance of Hadoop ecosystems by tuning configurations, managing resource allocations, and addressing performance bottlenecks.
  • Security Implementation: Knowledge of implementing and managing security measures within the CDH environment, including user authentication, data encryption, and access controls.
  • Integration: Experience in integrating CDH with other data systems and tools, such as relational databases, data warehouses, and business intelligence applications.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of tasks and workflows related to CDH operations.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Cloudera Manager) and troubleshooting techniques for diagnosing and resolving issues in Hadoop environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with cloud-based big data solutions (e.g., AWS EMR, Azure HDInsight) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
