  • Food Factory: 1850 Raymer Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92833 work scheduled 4 times a week in office, 1 day remote.


SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT

We are seeking a talented Senior Cost Accountant to join our Finance department at a global Food Service and Manufacturing brand. Based in Fullerton California, you will play an important role in driving our Commissary efficiencies and cost savings. As Sr. Cost Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the Finance and Commissary teams to oversee our Site P&L and product costing.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Management and Reporting
  • Engage in inventory management, auditing, and reporting tasks as required.
  • Supervise, monitor physical count, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare count variance report and investigate material discrepancy.
  • Prepare and monitor the open PO report and send to stakeholders for corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports to monitor consumption reports and bill of materials accuracy.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations on ingredient/packaging storage for dry, refrigerated and frozen - outside vs. internal storage

Product Costing
  • Create cost estimates for new items, new products, by collaborating with various departments to understand requirements and provide insights.
  • Establish and maintain accurate product costing models for all SKUs, incorporating bill of materials and direct labour based on time & motion studies.
  • Prepare a monthly report from Just Foods that indicates actualized food costing by SKU by Commissary
  • Conduct regular cost reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to pricing strategies.

Variance Analysis and Weekly Reports
  • Prepare the weekly / monthly variance report on direct materials usage for all commissaries.
  • Prepare the weekly/ monthly labor usage variance report for all commissaries.

Capex and Fixed Assets
  • Ensure compliance with the Capex and Fixed Assets policy.
  • Prepare ROI business case to justify the investment on fixed assets, and prepare post- mortem analysis to confirm the business case assumptions are correct.
  • Perform counts of fixed assets as defined in the fixed assets policy.
  • Maintain fixed asset list and depreciation schedule by Commissary

Factory Efficiency and Reporting
  • Assess and report on overall factory efficiency, identifying areas of improvement in resource utilization and operational processes.
  • Understand key drivers of waste within the factory, track and uphold KPIs, leading the production team in key focus areas to reduce waste and overweighs.
  • Collaborate with production managers to implement efficiency initiatives and cost-effective measures.
  • Monitor and analyze production throughput to identify areas for improvement and optimize manufacturing processes.

Monthly Book closing and internal control
  • Performa month-end journals and count adjustments
  • Perform internal control checks and procedures to ensure compliance to internal controls and policies.
  • Be prepared to take on additional tasks and roles within the department as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with three (3) to five (5) years experience in manufacturing cost accounting are required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, experience in manipulating large databases is a must. Knowledge or experience in macros, VBA or sequel is preferred.
  • CPA or working towards CPA is required.
  • Significant hands-on experience using an integrated ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory management, reporting and cost accounting
  • Understanding of IFRS as it applies to a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills to work in conjunction with other departments and must be a team player who also works well independently.
  • Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results, and make recommendations.
