Position Summary and Essential Job Functions:
NPS is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to lead a team through building systems, refining data tools, and establishing practices to improve student outcomes. The NPS Director of Educational Data Strategy will continue the work of maintaining and advancing data pipelines and databases that form the foundation of NPS data systems. They will maintain and improve reports that provide educators with secure and timely information that supports student success. The position is primarily focused on students' data and outcomes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Data Governance, Dashboard and System Management
Program Evaluation and Stakeholder Engagement
Application Design and Development
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Master's degree in data science, statistics, education, or a related field as well as deep knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
Minimum of 5 years of data analysis experience, preferably in education.
Project management expertise, including managing teams of 5+ people, leading multi-year initiatives, and leading professional development.
Experience in the education sector required. 2-3 years classroom experience preferred.
Experience working with a student information system like PowerSchool, InfiniteCampus, etc.
Understanding of quantitative evaluation methods with the ability to conduct rigorous analysis, including regression.
Proficiency in SQL and Power Query; experience with ETL/ELT in databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, or Snowflake is preferred.
Proficiency with front-end tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
Proficiency in ETL pipeline development, relational databases, and handling large datasets
Excellent communication skills, including translating complex data into actionable insights.
Firm belief in the efficacy of data-driven strategies for student improvement.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and learn new content.
Experience in managing document databases for web applications.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday (40 hours/week)
Salary: $135,000.00 / Annually

- Provide continuous support and maintenance for data dashboards by diagnosing and resolving issues related to interactivity and data quality.
- Integrate AI tools with modern workflows to adapt to the evolving data landscape and enhance educational data analysis. Monitor, assess, and reflect on current data systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Develop and uphold policies and procedures to guarantee data accuracy, security, compliance, and efficient storage for reliable reporting and data modeling.
- Manage and query databases, including PowerSchool and RedShift, to seamlessly integrate new longitudinal variables into existing data repositories and tools.
- Establish and maintain data dictionaries, maps, and documentation that facilitates institutional knowledge of data strategy and methodology.
- Utilize programming languages such as R, Stata, SPSS, SAS, or Python to explore, clean, organize, manipulate, and visualize data for a variety of stakeholders.
- Contribute to cross-departmental district teams, offering expertise in analysis, communication, and project management to support key district initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with district data managers to ensure data integrity and support comprehensive insights into student performance.
- Create compelling reports, visualizations, and dashboards to communicate insights to school leaders, teachers, and administrators, informing instructional practices, resource allocation, and student outcomes.
- Develop and execute a strategic partnership to cultivate data culture.
Program Evaluation and Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with district leaders and educators to develop and monitor school improvement goals, address their data analytics needs, and navigate data systems.
- Build capacity in school leadership for using data systems, including conducting training sessions on effective dashboard use. Engage end-users in collaborative discussions to optimize user experience (UX) for interactive data visualizations. Foster positive relationships with various stakeholders across the district (Central Office Staff, Principals, educators, etc.) using and refining dashboards through collaborative discussions.
