Shared Services: Philanthropy Planned Giving (Full-Time, Day Shift) -
Job Summary: The Director-Planned Giving manages a comprehensive planned giving program which results in funds raised through the cultivation and closing of deferred gift agreements and bequests from estate gifts. Is responsible for developing and monitoring departmental initiatives and performance in accordance with policies, financial and operational objectives, and mission of the organization, including developing a personal portfolio of planned giving prospects and securing planned gifts from alumni, grateful patients and friends of Loma Linda. Supervises and trains personnel directly reporting to the position. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management or Accounting required. Master's Degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum six years of relevant experience required, including two years of supervisory experience. Relevant experience accepted includes administration of trusts in charitable giving field with emphasis on deferred gift arrangements (preferably in healthcare or education), resolving problems in estate planning, sale of real estate and its administration, or investments in securities.
Knowledge and Skills: Competency in marketing, finance, and trust law required. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: North America Division (NAD) Planned Giving and Trust Administration Certification required within one year of employment.
