Position Summary

The Placement Director will oversee the career placement and professional development of our students, including sourcing and matching students with internships, apprenticeships, and full-time positions. This position also oversees career readiness, alumni support, and the engagement of corporate volunteers who support professional development efforts. They will manage corporate and nonprofit partner relationships, working to renew and expand opportunities by engaging partners in professional development, alumni activities, and volunteer events. Developing new business opportunities to generate revenue through talent development contributions as well as new employer partners prospects is crucial to this role's success.
Successful candidates will lead efforts to secure and sustain high numbers of placement opportunities, providing support and professional development for NPower students. This position is hybrid, requiring work from the office, home, and attendance at in-person events, including occasional overnight travel. Office requirements may change with company policy.

Responsibilities
Business Development and Employment Outcomes
- Accountable for meeting student career placement objectives.
- Lead a team to build and steward relationships with local corporate, nonprofit, and government agency hiring managers, small businesses, and staffing agencies.
- Manage the sourcing and development of relationships with current and prospective internship, direct hire, and apprenticeship hosts.
- Align participants' skills, technical performance, experience, and interests with employment opportunities. Provide input to NPower's National Instructor Institute on the evolving skill needs of employer partners.
- Consistently meet monthly paid internship and apprenticeship placement goals and provide monthly progress reports, as well as goals for full-time employment opportunities.
- Plan and manage team participation in placement-related events.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Partnership team to leverage and identify new career placement opportunities.
- Work with peers at NPower sites nationwide to leverage contacts and partnerships.
Apprenticeship and Internship Administration
- Ensure graduates are "job ready" through career-focused professional development training for 100+ students.
- Oversees DOL and CA DAS apprenticeship partnerships, expansion, and program administration.
- Oversee the onboarding process and placement agreements via Memorandums of Agreement (MOU) with employer partners.
- Act as an escalation point for partners regarding student matters.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments for both students and participating organizations.
Alumni & Volunteer Support
- Lead efforts to support hiring of alumni and coach them through the job search and interview process.
- Manage relationships with alumni, corporate partners, and potential employers.
- Oversee the development of a professional volunteer base to support students, interns, and graduates with job searching and higher education planning.
- Ensure accurate tracking of all metrics in a CRM (Salesforce.com).
- Lead planning of alumni engagement activities to foster community, networking, and continuous professional development opportunities.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent sales skills, including consultative sales and business development. Experience researching, sourcing and engaging new business prospects, closing opportunities and developing productive longer-term relationships.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in staffing, or career services.
- 2-5 years of management experience.
- Knowledge of job coaching, career counseling, job training, and enterprise staffing requirements.
- Experience designing, teaching, and facilitating workforce readiness curriculum and training with a commitment to asset-based adult learning principles.
- Capacity to participate in networking and industry events to develop partnerships.
- Dedicated to achieving personal, team, and organizational goals through time management, data analysis, focused communications, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment.
