This position is designed to improve the competitiveness of the Aging Center in the pursuit of grants and contracts, to prepare and monitor budgets and expenditures, to prepare budget projections, to reconcile budgets with expenditures (bookkeeping), to make arrangement for and to coordinate meetings, seminars and other events, including offsite events both in and out of state, to travel offsite in this capacity, to function as publications and presentations coordinator for the Executive Committee, to prepare purchase requisitions for investigators on up to five research grants and to monitor all purchases related to the grants, including processing of invoices for payment, and to intersect with other consortium institutions and their regulatory bodies such as IRB in the execution of the above. In coordination with the PI, the incumbent will have primary responsibilities in the processing of pre-award and post-award administration of grants and contracts. This includes the timely submission for specific research grant applications from the Aging Center to government agencies and private foundations and the overall administration of research projects funded through grant and contract mechanisms. Working closely with the faculty, incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all administrative paperwork associated with the preparation, processing, implementation and monitoring of contracts, grants, and purchases within the Center are completed on a timely basis. Initiate external/internal prospective collaborative endeavors. Excellent oral and writing skills (including word processing), ability to deal diplomatically with all staff, faculty, and others.
Broad based knowledge of funding agency and grant process.
Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and diverse digital tools.
Able to travel to meetings and conferences in Louisiana and out of state.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Management.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional level experience.
Master's Degree
At least five years related work experience.
Some fluency in biology and health topics at a high school level.
Broad based knowledge of funding agency and grant process.
Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and diverse digital tools.
Able to travel to meetings and conferences in Louisiana and out of state.
