The Clinical Pharmacist works collaboratively with teams within Aegis and is responsible for maintaining and fostering the growth of business service lines. The Clinical Team offers guidance and recommendations related to evidence-based practice and outcomes; provides expert consultation for pharmacotherapeutic and toxicology related questions both within Aegis and for external clients, primarily in healthcare specialties; develops and leads training for clients and team members related to healthcare, and drug testing practices; collaborates with Marketing, Managed Care, Quality, and the Laboratory team to provide superior science and service; and conducts literature research for the Aegis team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Research and Development
- Collaborate with Research Scientists by providing information on clinical impact, and drug/metabolite disposition for method development
- Maintain proficiency in medication management and clinical therapeutic testing
- Recommend updates to existing healthcare and toxicology services
- Generate reporting rules for toxicology and healthcare testing services
- Respond to drug/clinical information requests from Aegis scientists
- Suggest new test developments based on clinical knowledge, literature review, and feedback from clinicians and sales team
- Contribute to scientific literature and attend scientific meetings consistent with corporate requirements
- Marketing
- Develop materials addressing clinical and/or technical expertise in conjunction with the Marketing team
- Proof/review marketing materials for technical and scientific accuracy
- Assist in updating the Aegis drug testing guide on an annual basis or as required
- Managed Care
- Create written and oral scientific communication for third party payers, including continuing education or other presentations, as requested
- Provide scientific support for initiatives targeted at developing/maintaining relationships with those who partner with Aegis
- Sales and Customer Service
- Serve as the point-of-contact for sales team and healthcare providers on questions regarding pharmacotherapeutic or toxicology services
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales Representatives to lead and present client educational meetings
- Client Services
- Assist Client Services team members by reviewing client reports for accuracy as requested
- Assist with development of select standard operating procedures as required
- Laboratory Team
- Provide direction for reporting of problem samples, and assist with client communication, while evaluating impact of reporting rules
- Participate as required to address process remediation or improvements when necessary
- Students/Interns
- Serve as a mentor for Doctor of Pharmacy students from various colleges of pharmacy
- Assign student projects that align with Clinical Pharmacy/Aegis Business Development objectives
- Ensure grading and review requirements are met for students assigned
- Team Member Training
- Provide scientific training opportunities for internal team members through live and e-learning presentations
- Assist with student preceptorship and Fellowship preceptorship as needed
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, committees, and working groups
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
- Follow all safety guidelines and report any safety concerns to supervisor
- Up to 30% of time may be spent in travel to meetings and client presentations
- Other duties as required and assigned
A Successful Candidate Must Possess:
- Pharm.D. required
- Continuing education requirements must be met for states in which candidates holds licenses
- Tennessee pharmacist licensure: 30 hours with 15 hours of live CE, every 2 years
- Exception: "no pharmacist shall be required to complete any continuing pharmaceutical education during a two (2) year license cycle if that pharmacist presents proof that during all or part of the license cycle the pharmacist was enrolled in a recognized academic program pursuing a pharmacy degree, a doctor of medicine degree, a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree, a doctor of dental surgery degree, or an advanced or graduate degree in a health-related science; or participating in a pharmacy residency or fellowship program; or engaged in a course of study leading to certification as a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant." 1140-05-.01 REQUIREMENTS FOR PHARMACIST LICENSE RENEWAL
- If applicable, maintenance of certification with the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties: 120 hours of approved CE every 7 years, or recertification by exam
- Tennessee pharmacist licensure: 30 hours with 15 hours of live CE, every 2 years
- Excellent written and public speaking communication abilities are required
- Pharmacy residency and/or experience in pain management, behavioral health, managed care, or informatics strongly preferred
- Additional preferred experience includes:
- Board certification in Pharmacotherapy
- Experience publishing, preferably peer-reviewed publications
- Clinical Pharmacist experience in a corporate setting
- Managed Care knowledge and experience
