We are currently hiring for a Process Engineering Manager for Manufacturing at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in southwestern Virginia.
The site Process Engineering Manager will lead a department of 15+ engineers charged with improving Safety and Environmental performance, supporting site operations, process and quality improvements, cost reduction initiatives, process uptime improvement, and modernization project support. The primary emphasis of the department is to deliver productivity at a minimum of 3-4 times the cost of the department overhead. This role is a key part of the Manufacturing Leadership Team and reports directly to the site Operations Director. This core team drives continuous improvement across all site operations.

Site Process Engineering Manager will:
- Support day-to-day production needs including troubleshooting, recommending courses of action, performance metric reviews, visual management activity, and interfacing with other site departments to deliver the needs of the production units.
- Support development of annual/monthly goals and objectives for the site and achieve said objectives through technical means and Lean Management processes including high levels of site engagement and accountability reviews.
- Drive / participate in strategic plans and tactical implementation for Safety and Environmental improvements, Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance, modernization projects, programs and product development, operating budgets, productivity projects, etc.
- Assist improving and maintaining a robust Process Safety Information system as part of PSM compliance. This includes creating and updating RFD's, P&ID's, operational design bases, and other technical documents used to operate the plant and meet PSM requirements. Work closely with the PSM Manager to support timely completion of new and updated Process Hazard Analyses (PHA's) and other PSM program needs.
- Approve Process memos and design packages to outline processes, safety and environmental specifics, document equipment design and arrangement, and provide guidance for on-time completion of projects.
- Maintain a yield and process improvement focus including annual productivity programs to create safer, more efficient and lower cost positioned products and operations.
- Oversee department overhead budget and support improvement of manufacturing cost targets
- Participate on business and corporate teams as requested.
- Conduct other job and site related needs as required.
Required Skills and Education
- Chemical, Mechanical or Process Engineering degree, or similar engineering degree.
- Have 10 years of engineering and production support experience.

Preferred Skills and Education
- Chemical Engineering degree/background preferred.
- Experience with 6Sigma methodology and applications.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing as applied to large, integrated chemical plant operations.
- Prior Management experience is preferred, but not required.
