SUMMARY
This position reports to the General Manager of Procurement and Production Planning. Works with minimal direction and supervision. Overall department managerial responsibility for creation of production schedules to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to customer demands. Actively manages and maintains the production schedule. Informs Production and Logistics groups of any changes, problems or concerns and alters the schedule to meet changing conditions. Utilizes data to monitor, analyze, and reports performance to Operations Management. Monitors and reports on production requirements, manufacturing capacity, and schedule. Provides continual improvement of the planning and reporting process. Directly manages production control staff.

Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, including radiation. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA, Inc.'s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and test equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for providing leadership and direction for daily and long-term production planning based on needs pertaining to product inventory, demand forecast, customer orders, ship dates, production efficiency and compatibility.
- Ensures work orders are issued to the production floor with both available inventory and/or capacity available.
- Monitors short-term capacity demands to identify raw material dates and projected deliveries to customers. Maintains work order dates to reflect the actual day the product will be produced and consume materials in Syspro.
- Daily coordination/partnership with production supervision, procurement, and warehouse staff to evaluate any changes needed in the production schedule. Monitors the status of material usage and runs material requirement reports daily.
- Executes reports providing timely data and information used to drive the schedule decision making process.
- Compare customer forecasts against the budget, identify reasons for increases/decreases, and take any necessary actions.
- Provide appropriate inventory balance updates along with underlying productivity status. If a runout is anticipated, identify target productivity and initiate improvement triggers. Manage progress and course correction as necessary.
- Review N3/N6 inventory forecast against recent productivity and sales projections along with the budget and take any necessary actions.
- Evaluates manufacturing or procurement challenges and constraints and develops solutions to overcome.
- In collaboration with the Operations Management, drives continuous improvement to increase production quality and yields.
- Participates in production and operations planning meetings.
- Reviews records and reports for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures.
- Maintains clean and safe work environment by establishing, following and enforcing company standards and procedures.
- Acts as the company liaison between customers and the company to resolve issues.
- Conducts employee performance reviews and regularly provides feedback to employees on their performance.
- Maintains and submits accurate records of employee attendance through ADP.
- Establishes and maintains employee training plans, certifications and other pertinent workplace documentation.
- Ensures that employees are properly trained and that they perform their duties in compliance with established quality procedures, safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Immediately notifies top management to anticipated runouts and discusses plans to address them. Expected to share receipt and payment information with relevant departments at daily meetings/monthly reporting sessions and discuss countermeasures. Must be well-versed in Syspro and implement any necessary improvements.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or related field required. Demonstrated work experience may be considered with degree in process and/or commitment to obtain degree as contingency in employment offer.
- APICS certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing production planning/logistics
- 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including logistics, manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office including advanced skills in Excel and MRP/ERP Systems (Syspro highly preferred; SAP, Oracle or equivalent acceptable).
- Analytic and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic
- Strong Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written
