    SUPERVISES: Special Education Staff/Teachers in Title Programs

    JOB GOAL: The Director of Special Programming has three major goals.
  • To oversee the planning, implementation, directing and maintaining all aspects of the corporation's special education programs and services.
  • Coordinate and manage all Title I, II, III, IV, IX and NESP Grants and programs identified at school sites, to promote equity while meeting the needs of the students from diversified backgrounds.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and grant applications requirements; grant monitoring, managing professional learning opportunities, and working directly with key stakeholders.

  • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO SPECIAL EDUCATION:

    The Director of Special Education is responsible for planning, implementing, directing and maintaining all aspects of the corporation's special education programs and services.
  • Attends various meetings (e.g. Board meetings, Administration Team Meetings, professional development, hearings, case conferences, community partner meetings, IDOE meetings, etc.) for the purpose of providing direction and/or receiving information.
  • Collaborates with other district personnel for the purpose of initiating, implementing and/or maintaining services and programs. Develops proposals, new programs, budgets and grant opportunities for the purpose of meeting identified districts goals as well as state and federal mandates.
  • Facilitates meetings, processes, etc. (e.g. due process hearings, district liaison, special education parent groups, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining district Special Education programs and services in compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
  • Implement assigned programs and/or projects for the purpose of conforming to district and state curriculum and/or instructional objectives.
  • Manages grant and general fund accounts of assigned programs and all related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that expenses are within budget limits and /or fiscal practices are followed.
  • Manages the special education department for the purpose of delivering services which conform to established local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Monitors district wide and school site based special education programs and/or projects for the purpose of implementing and achieving objectives within the area of responsibility.
  • Monitors the special education student management systems for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state and federal pupil accounting guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.
  • Provides ongoing and systematic professional development for administrators and special education staff for the purpose of program and pupil accounting compliance, student placement and staffing allocations.
  • Researches a variety of information for the purpose of providing department leadership, implementing best practices, improving existing programs and/or developing new programs.
  • Supervises special education personnel in a professional manner (e.g., administrative assistants, psychologists, coordinators, teacher consultants, speech and language therapists, related services providers, etc.) for the purpose of carrying out objectives within the area of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO TITLE GRANTS:

    Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Title Grant Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing all Title I, II, III, IV, and NESP Grants and programs identified at school sites, families and larger community, while integrating knowledge of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to promote equity while meeting the needs of the students from diversified backgrounds. In addition, the coordinator assists with keeping the communication flowing between departments, Title I team members and programs; scheduling meetings; helping to ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and grant applications requirements; managing professional learning opportunities, and working directly with key stakeholders.
  • Review, understand and implement the requirements of federal and state mandates, Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) regulations for Title I, II, III, IV, and NESP grants.
  • Attend IDOE meetings and professional development in order to meet federal and state requirements and deadlines.
  • Write grants, track, monitor revenue spending, and complete reimbursements for Title I, II, III, IV, and NESP Grants.
  • Ensure that schools/programs receiving funds remain compliant with state and federal requirements.
  • Work with key stakeholders to oversee all Title programs, activities, and plans to ensure program efficiency, accountability, and meets grant goals and objectives./
  • Develop and oversee procedures for determining materials and supplies; maintain accurate inventories of items purchased with federal, state and local funds.
  • Communicate, collaborate and coordinate with administrators, families, or community agencies and groups, regarding program questions, suggestions, concerns and/or compliance issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • Supervises the Title IX program and necessary reports

  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220 Days
    Salary, fringe benefits, and length of contract established by the Board annually
