Job Purpose

The Project & Operations Manager will report to the Company's General Counsel and will oversee and manage various administrative and operational matters relating to the Legal Group and the delivery of legal services to internal clients, including matters pertaining to litigation management, finances, and budgeting, outside counsel and other vendors, and the legal department's use of information technology.

Key Accountabilities

Develop, revise, and oversee the policies and procedures that the Legal Group is involved with, always with an eye toward continuous improvement.

Liaise with the various departments within the company to ensure effective communication, operation, and service delivery between the Legal Group and the rest of the company. Work with various departments and other company management to ensure maximum collaboration and minimal overlap to ensure overall compliance with corporate directives.

Manage and process outside counsel bills, including reviewing and negotiating bills and billing arrangements ensuring that standards for service, delivery and costs are met.

Act as the primary user and administrator for the Legal Group's billing software tools.

Manage contract administration and assist with contract negotiation and finalization.

Review legal department financial reports and work-in-process reports in order to update the General Counsel regarding the department's short range outlook and the efficient delivery of legal services to internal clients.

Manage and execute on special projects, as needed, including assisting with internal investigations and audits.

Partner with the General Counsel and the Legal Group to ensure projects/processes are moving forward, deadlines are being met, and the leadership team is apprised of status on projects or initiatives.

Manage and/or assist with managing Legal Group meetings, including preparing and presenting materials for participating in internal meetings, committee meetings, or the meetings with management of other Departments.

Qualifications

  • Preferred minimum of 4+ years of experience in legal operations or project management, preferably within a professional services or consulting organization.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Previous legal/paralegal experience preferred.
  • Experience managing or assisting with financial, IT, HR, and other administrative or operational projects.
  • Experience negotiating a variety of contracts.
  • Experience using and managing technology processes, procedures, and programs utilized by in-house legal departments.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment but also operate independently.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Self-starter who is capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
