Job purpose
The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for the planning, and execution of maintenance for all manufacturing, and physical plant assets in a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Under the direction of the Senior Operations Manager, the Plant Maintenance Manager will lead the plant maintenance teams with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency.

The hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for the planning, and execution of maintenance for all manufacturing, and physical plant assets in a 24/7 manufacturing operation. Under the direction of the Senior Operations Manager, the Plant Maintenance Manager will lead the plant maintenance teams with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Duties and responsibilities
- Managing maintenance functions in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Direct Reports include: Maintenance Planner, Lead Technician(s), Parts Clerk, and Maintenance Technicians (12).
- Develop, implement, and monitor planned, preventive maintenance programs and ensure effectiveness of maintenance activities.
- Establish clear performance management standards for all maintenance technicians and activities.
- Develop/Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for maintenance/reliability.
- Develop/Improve management and maintenance of building utilities, infrastructure, and grounds.
- Work closely with Operations Management to achieve stated goals for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost.
- Ensure all maintenance, and repair activities are performed in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to maintenance planner and parts clerk to ensure through and timely maintenance and availability of spare parts.
- Identify and establish training programs focused on safety, technology, and skill development.
- Control expenses to established budget guidelines.
- Ensure that new/modified equipment is added to the maintenance program.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline with a minimum of 7 years experience required.
- Previous Supervisory experience (>2 years) or plant-level responsibilities required.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance management in a multi-shift manufacturing facility.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance of physical plant equipment (Boilers, Compressors, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, HVAC).
- Demonstrated experience utilizing CMMS systems required, MaintainX preferred
- Experience in Web Converting, Paper/Pulp Converting, or similar high-speed, rotating equipment environment preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and NEC preferred.
- Must be capable of working flexible hours to accommodate 24/7 manufacturing operation, including weekends, and on-call requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role would supervise all production maintenance technicians.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours
- Must be able to push/pull/ lift at least 45 lbs. individually and 50 lbs. with the help of a team member
- Must be able to use, handle, and manipulate items and materials, including hazardous materials, with proper material handling equipment/tools.
- Must be able to work in an office setting, and spend partial working hours at a desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.
- Must complete 24/40-hour HazWoper Training and be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection

Safety Requirements
- Physically able to pass spirometry exam for test fitting of respiratory equipment.
- Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc.), hearing protection, ANSI-approved footwear, and others as required.) in any manufacturing area.
- Ability to wear required PPE if in any manufacturing area.
