Unit Description
The Services Technology Unit (STU) leads the FBI's Human Language Technology (HLT) program and leads the FBI's efforts intelligence discover and sharing through applications and services, as well as, serves as the key stakeholder for the FBI's technical footprint in the Intelligence Community (IC). STU is responsible for identifying IT and Data needs for the intelligence workforce, seeking solutions for those needs, prototyping/testing potential solutions, and facilitating the adoption of these technologies (to include, but not limited to, AI/ML, cloud services, and web development tools). STU also leads the technical efforts of the FBI's intelligence sharing mission and works to improve the accessibility and availability of FBI intelligence to the FBI, IC, and law enforcement partners.

Key Requirements
- Must be a current, permanent FBI employee.
- Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance.

- Lead, supervise and assist unit personnel who are sourcing, scoping, researching, facilitating, and documenting IT requirements. Ensure stakeholders are being properly engaged, Division leadership appropriately informed via written and oral briefings, and unit personnel adequately sharing the workload.
- Lead and mentor unit personnel who are assisting customers with technical tasks, including those relating to IT requirements, business process review, and visualizations.
- Lead and assist unit personnel who are servicing customer IT help requests, including resolving printer errors, system lockouts, mobile device support, hardware and software installations, and remote access difficulties.
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the division, enterprise, and communities (IC, LE, other).
- Provide formal and informal strategic guidance to Division leadership regarding selection of hardware, software, network gear, and peripherals. Develop plans for deployments and recalls, construct policy proposals, and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Receive, review, and analyze incoming projects, assignments and requests. Assign the work taking into consideration factors such as the difficulty of the project, priority of assignment, workload, and capability of the employee. Track the progress and ensure that work is completed in a timely manner.
- Act as an advisor to Division personnel to aid in evaluating applicable policies, procedures, and other types of received guidance and direction. Help to form proposals and plans to address those items and as required oversee the implementation.

- Required Leadership Training: All FBI supervisors promoted after January 2022 are required to attend and complete the Training Division's Supervisor Essentials Program within 365 days from initial assignment into a supervisory position. Supervisors will need to complete both the "Mentoring and Coaching" and "Performance Appraisals" courses as part of the Supervisor Essentials program. The Supervisor Essentials course is a pre-requisite for the new Leading People (Virtual) and face-to-face version (VLP) that will be offered beginning the 2nd Quarter of 2022
- Limited Movement: Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. HRD will waive this limited movement policy for qualified employees, who have received an official notification letter that their current position is being relocated to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama by 2024, so those employees can compete for a position elsewhere.
- Probationary employees are precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until 12-months of their 24-month probationary period has concluded. Probationary employees may be considered for competitive vacancies that are advertised within their respective division or field office after serving 90 days within the FBI.

- Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Employees returning from LEGAT assignments must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit / International Operations Division of their application for this position.
