The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill a Deputy Warden position. This position is based out of Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility (Racine, WI, Racine County)

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Warden, this position will assist with the development, implementation and administration of security, treatment, support services and intake procedures for the 450 bed facility at the Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility (RYOCF). The position will also provide the appropriate information to agencies, the legislature, and the public on matters pertaining to the facility, and implement the Affirmative Action/Civil Rights Compliance Plan (AA/CRC) in its areas of responsibility.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81-01 with an annual salary of $93,600 - $120910, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A career executive trial period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

This position has the flexibility of a hybrid in-office and remote work schedule up to 1 day per week remote.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
  • Working in a supervisory role (e.g., reviewing work of others, training/orienting new employees, assigning work of others, establishing operating procedures, etc.)
  • Developing and implementing of facility programs (e.g. Health Services, Treatment, Education, Security, etc.)
  • Developing departmental policies and procedures for a security setting
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:
  • Developing, implementing, or administrating management services (e.g., budget, program planning, reviewing and approving building and grounds programs, etc.)
  • Working in a security or correctional setting
