What You Will Do
The Weapons Facilities Operations (WFO) Division has an opening for a High Explosives Operations Manager 3. WFO is charged with facilitating mission execution at WETF (Haz Cat II Nuclear Facility), DARHT (Accelerator Facility), HE Sciences, Firing Sites, and Detonator Facilities. This is executed by providing innovative, value added, and customer-focused support in the areas of facilities management, deployed support resource management, integrated operational improvement initiatives, and performance assurance management.
The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring facility readiness, determining requirements for facility access, notifying and investigating abnormal occurrences, and coordinating and releasing programmatic work. The Operations Manager should ensure daily open communication with workers (including subcontractors) and stakeholders to promote an environment where workers feel comfortable bringing errors, mistakes, system weaknesses, and issues to their attention.
This position will partner with programmatic customers to strengthen operations, improve safety culture, and implement strategic objectives to better support the national security mission.

Conduct of Operations
Experience implementing and maintaining formality and/or conduct of operations.
Through knowledge of conduct of maintenance, conduct of engineering, conduct of operations and quality assurance programs.
Experience coordinating work at the facility (plan of the day), supervisor, management, and vendor level to complete objectives.
Leadership
Ability to oversee a wide range of management functions, including directing a plan of the day, collaborating with project management to oversee projects conducted within the WFO footprint and integration with programmatic operations.
Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation of others and conduct presentations of technical and/or function-specific information concerning specific projects or schedules.
Demonstrated commitment to the professional development and mentoring of employees, and competence in leading teams and building rapport with employees, peers, and supervisors.
Communication & Collaboration
Demonstrated experience in building collaborative relationships and effectively communicating internally across groups, divisions and directorates.
Demonstrated experience in effective decision-making and creative problem solving.
Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with regulatory and oversight agencies and personnel.
Experience ensuring that facility and programmatic integrated work and documents appropriately identify hazards, that facility resources are coordinated to assist in hazard identification, and that controls are adequate. Demonstrated communication skills on the implementation of operational management policies, procedures, and practices.
Financial Acumen
Demonstrated experience in developing a budget to address infrastructure needs over a multiyear period and communicating fiscal issues with appropriate supporting justification.
Operations
Familiarity with implementation of DOE standards, directives, and handbooks related to IWM and explosives/nuclear/accelerator operations.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Explosives Safety standards and safe practices and governing policies.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with WFO procedures and protocols.
Knowledge of facility operations processes to include mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC/refrigeration, conveyance, and BAS systems. Experience managing medium projects and utilizing project management tools.
Demonstrated ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking project activities.
Active Q Clearance
