About the team + role

Robinhood is looking for a highly qualified Assistant General Counsel, Employment to join its innovative legal department. Reporting to the VP and Deputy General Counsel of Corporate, Commercial and Privacy Legal, you will be a point person responsible for the management of complex employment matters, as well as advising and influencing business stakeholders. We are looking for an adaptable person who can handle rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility and perseverance. What you'll do
  • Serve as a consultant and advisor to the People Team by providing strategic employment law advice with respect to both US and international matters
  • Partner with Robinhood's Litigation Team and assist with the handling all of phases of employment litigation and pre-litigation employment disputes
  • Advise People Team on employee terminations, business reorganizations, investigations of employees' misconduct and violations of confidentiality agreements relating to IP
  • Help create policies, standards and business procedures that comply with various state and international employment laws and regulations
  • Structure, negotiate, and draft litigation separation agreements, new hire onboarding documents, and other related employment agreements and policies
  • Provide support for corporate transactions, including due diligence related to employment matters for potential mergers, acquisitions or divestitures
What you bring
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least 1 U.S. state bar
  • 9+ years relevant employment experience in a law firm and/or corporate law department required, including both counseling and litigation; prior in-house experience in financial services preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employee privacy laws and/or international employment issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills; outstanding business judgment, coupled with the ability to give practical advice that balances business needs with legal risks
  • Excellent written and communication skills, while being bale to build trust and credibility with partners at all levels and functions of the company
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work under pressure, while balancing different matters at once
  • Experience collaborating with HR teams on employee privacy matters and.or through international expansion

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood's equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
